I'm a terrible insomniac. Coke is full of cafeine. For me, it's a pot of green tea in the morning and forget about it for the rest of the day. So I'm a 7Up drinker. I only have Coke when it's cafeine free.
If the Coca part of the Cola still meant something, I might be a more regular consumer. But liquid caramel is only a special little pleasure at best anyways.

The royal navy ruled the waves for centuries on the proud British traditions of rum, sodomy and the lash; the rum took some of the sting out of the other two..... :dancing:

But if you'd asked the average jack tar if he wanted Coke in his daily tot you would have woken up in A&E or over the side.

Aside from the generics like Captain Morgan, Bacardi and the like, most rums are great on their own. A little water perhaps, but nothing else. And no ice either.

I encourage you to try them, Ananke. Guiness is of course well known, but the two others aren't, and yet are much better. Guiness is a light beer, as you surely know. But the McEwan's and the Duvel are strong, 8% alcohol beers with lots of body and lots of punch. Tough ladies with generous curves! And the taste of both is really great, the first one sweet and the second on the contrary with some lovely but refreshing bitterness.

But there are some exceptionally good Scottish beers. The bottled Scotch Ale in your pic, Dan, is a rather poor offering created specifically for the north American market.

Try to get hold of some of these if you can - great bottled, even better on draught. If it says IPA (India Pale Ale - brewed for the army in India) it will always be good. Deuchars is the supreme example.

I hope I can find some of these in here. The State regulated stores have a decent choice of beers from the outside, but not extensive. Many german and belgian, than a few from here and there. But I'll definitely look for these. Thanks, Robert Louis!

I think I am right, but at one time -maybe still today- you could get Coca Coal in Jordan but not in Israel, and you could get Pepsi Cola in Israel, but not in Jordan, or vice versa. Then there was a peace treaty and it may have changed.

I tried an independent cola, Fentiman's Curiosity Cola, from Waitrose, but to me the botanicals give it a flavour that I find a bit too medical.
