Barbie’s mutated proportions are even more unrealistic than we thought (http://io9.com/barbie-s-mutated-proportions-are-even-more-unrealistic-475946693)

Girls who yearn to have a body like Barbie's need to seriously reconsider. As this new infographic from Rehabs.com shows, not only are her idealized proportions anatomically impossible — they would also be incredibly debilitating.
This photo-realistic rendering of barbie shows how absolutely ridiculous she looks when set next to a real human. And the stats back up what the eyes can clearly see.

I'd really wonder how they would figure this height and those proportions, Natina... As to the with and without makeup pictures, you would think more of a two years on skid row before and after pictures...

Sorry but I think Barbie is less of an influence on todays little girls than she used to be. When you see girls (teens) running around in sweat pants with bigger asses than their male counterparts, I hardly think Barbie influences that. Maybe a sign the girl is comfortable with who she is and that a doll is just that and the young girl doesn't feel any need to conform to outdated stereotypes. If she was as you claim such an influence these girls would be suffering from Anorexia Nervosa, which I'm happy to say I don't see any signs of (in public) where I live.

For Christ's sake Natina.....you still going on about this? 4 people on here (including myself) have responded to this in 1 week. I think it's obvious either no one gives a damn or they don't think Barbie is as relevant as she used to be so they can't be bothered to comment. You're entitled to your opinion/beliefs but in this case > :deadhorse

I also agree. It's a feminist generalization. There's in fact quite a diversity of feminine forms that are simulteneously appreciated today. Look at what we know of past history: women were much more subjected to a model. Think for instance of the cinema of the 40's or 50's: women are all alike, they all have the same type of bodies. Today, you have the slender model type, the Playboy violin type with big breast, the big ass girl and everything that comes in between, and all can be found beautiful by men. We don't live in a stereotyped era: we probably live in the most diversify era ever!
