Serious question here; how do one make money online as an erotic artist?

Funny question coming from an artist that has been online for many years you might think, but I'll play dumb (perhaps easier than it should, but oh well!) and listen to what input some of you might have. Looking to broaden my horizon and/or up my game to level where more people would be willing to pay for my art.

Vanity.

All girls who are public figures want to see themselves somewhere, especially if you're talking porn. It defines the culture of the industry. Do commission work. Control your media (i.e. - don't give the copyrights away). I would pay good money to have good, high quality artwork done for me.

You have a talent that is easily marketable for the right price. I have no idea how long your pieces take but depending on that, I would guess you could easily make a nice, tidy bundle of cash every month off of commissioned work.

absolutely agree with Krissy, Commission work is great and can be high dollar. Honestly, if I had the cash, I would sling some your way for commissions :)

It may be that you've got so much free content floating around futa TGPs and you have a recognizable art style. People that admire it don't have to look around much and most can find alternatives to paying membership for access because you've been releasing your art for years. I'd imagine since you're already reppin' TransArtStudio in your avatar, you've signed-on with one or two membership-funded futa and/or trans-art websites. Commissions and contract work are about the only two ways I can think to earn an income out of being an online erotic artist.

Thank you for your kind words, Krissy :) I have been doing alot of commission work over the years, but it comes and goes. Might get swamped one month, and then absolutely no orders the next month :P I too think that a really nice pinup or something like that would be a nice feature to have on a girl's website for example.

hehe, make more money! :P j/k

I think you're right, I've drawn shemales for so long that people might think that what they've seen floating around is all there is of my art, when in fact it's not... I think I'll be drawing new stuff that I won't post online until I've launched a brand new paysite by myself.

I'm always open for commisisons, but I should perhaps advertise that more... But don't want to be spamming either...

I would LOVE to see some of these girls drawn in the style of Olivia De Berardinis (google her)...

Afraid you've got yourself a bit of a quagmire there, KJ. Problem is, your stuff is too good...so much so that there's a ton of people out there sharing it w/ each other for free. If you had a paysite of your own, you might be able to market some of the originals, but I think the vast majority are digital downloaders. That being the case, you would have to come up w/ new material on a fairly regular basis to maintain the monthly subscriber list, and establish some sort of proprietary system to keep folks from sharing it all over the place. Sorry, guess I'm not telling you anything you don't already know, hence the basis for your inquiry. In any event, best of luck to ya...been a big fan of your work for years

yeah, I got some pinups books by Olivia that I got back in the late 80s. She does great stuff :) I'm also a sucker for Elvgreen, Vargas, Sorayama and many more :)

I will be updating my site with fresh material several times a week, and I'm gonna lower my commission prices a bit.

And thank you, means alot to me to know that I have fans out there :D

I'm going to start releasing a series of comics that in theory would only be available on my site... I'll be using a very high quality Flash based slideshow widget to present the content. Can't really be copied, saved, etc. EXCEPT every keyboard on Earth has a Print Screen button so with a miniscule bit of work anyone can have anything they see online. The only concrete way to turn a buck with drawings is to sell signed original physical prints, or commissioned pieces.

That's a good idea, but like you said, if they want to download it they will find a way.... my late webmaster had a security thing implemented in the galleries where all the pics you downloaded would have this really faint watermark with your username and ip address, so if you spread it one could tell which user it was and them promptly kick his ass of the site. Not sure what that feature was...
