Wow...thanks bluesoul, I actually read this here first.
He was a talented and charismatic actor...and I enjoyed his perfomance in numerous roles.
R.I.P.

Very sorry to hear that. 51 is no age these days.

A very fine actor and a remarkable physical presence on screen.

Very sad when someone who provides us w/ so much joy goes so soon. Just goes to show ya, like my ole friend Janis used to say, "Ya gotta get it while ya can"

same here. When a famous person near my age dies I start thinking seriously about giving up booze, pizza, and sitting on my ass all day. The feeling passes within 24 hours

I agree with the sitting on my ass part. The pizza, not sure. But giving up booze?? When it happens, I just feel like drinking a whole lot more before it's too late!! lol

I'll add this about him, as I agree that he was an incredible presence on the screen: I find unfortunate that he was discovered late (to the best of my knowledge) and was not used enough in movies.

You may remember the car chase scene where Tony chases Phil...a good part of it was filmed on Grand Ave in Maspeth, Queens...I heard about it and went over there to watch...at one point in between filming, JG went into a local pizza place and he couldn't have been nicer, signing autographs and posing for pics.

OK, maybe ill just give up the pizza

One of the few actors who was plenty famous enough to be an asshole, yet you never heard a bad word about him.

That's a shocker!

Anthony 'Tony' Soprano Sr.: Maybe I should tap into my roots, too. My grandmother was half Indian.
Christopher Moltisanti: Get the fuck out of here.
Anthony 'Tony' Soprano Sr.: No, it's true. She was in the Fakawee tribe.
Christopher Moltisanti: Oh, yeah?
Anthony 'Tony' Soprano Sr.: Yeah. When they used to get lost in the woods, they stopped and said "Where the Fakawee?"

An actor of great depth and versatility, I have never seen the Sopranos but he was in other films (True Romance, Crimson Tide) and does a great demolition job on Malcolm Tucker here -

Another son of New Jersey passed away Wednesday; Dave Jennings, former punter for the NY Giants and Jets, died after battling Parkinson's disease. He was 61.

Punters almost never get recognition for what they do but by all accounts, Dave Jennings was one of the all time best.

After his playing career ended, he went on the become a outstanding broadcaster (again for both teams) on the radio side, where his knowledge of the complex game of football earned him the respect of legendary coaches Bill Parcells and Bill Belichick...for regular fans, his ability to explain what had happened on the field (and why) made listening to games all the more fun and interesting.

He will be missed.

Gutting isn't it! and what a young age for both! Thats no age to go! He died in Italy, I think that Tony would agree was quite a poignant place to to leave!

I could sit and watch the Soprano's over and over again! Its a little like Only Fools and Horses where you can catch a repeat on UK Gold and sit through it, even though you've seen it before you can endure it over and over again!

When he met his shrink.... she asks “What line of work are you in?” to which he responds.... “Waste management consultant.”

Such a big cuddly guy who did so much with 51 years!

RIP x

Tony Soprano, with the possible exceptions of Al Bundy and Ralph Kramden, gotta be the best character ever created for TV
Another excellent role of his ....as the warden of the military prison in Last Castle w/ Robt Redford....check it out

While he'll receive endless praise for playing Tony Soprano, my favorite performance of his was in "The Mexican".

Another great gone too soon. :(

It's a very well-made point Ben. For once the response isn't just about his undoubted prowess as an actor, but about his care for family, friends, fans and community, plus exemplary and unsung charity work. Makes it all the more sad, as it seems that we've not just lost a loved actor, but a thoroughly decent human being as well.

Yeah, I didn't know that about him. He was quite, well, saintly.
