Last one.

Looks like a Star Trek book! Guys can go where only the privileged have gone before!

Good luck with this venture, Kelly. Awesome to see people with talent stepping out into other ventures.

Congratulations on your leap into print. Overall i like cover one - but I'm not keen on the typeface used for the "stop chasing" section. Might be good to try using the same type face asthe main title - but in white as you have it. Just a thought.

Any chance of an advance copy (I'll buy it obviously) so I can read it and help promote the launch on my blogs?

Or, if you could send me an excerpt along with short bio, with permission to use the cover, and a firm release date... love to maybe get you a few more purchasers.

MrsKellyPierce

Sorry, pornographic pictures will not be included. I am trying to stray away from the porn world in this book. They are definitely separate entities.

I do touch on being a pornstar, how couldn't I? I touch on it only for the fact of why you should take advice on relationships from a pornstar. I give a timeline into my own dating life and experiences as an introduction. I have been in long-term relationships since I was seventeen, the shortest one was two years. I never really got into casual dating or sex.

I give advice on how and when is the right time to tell anyone about dating a trans-woman. I have met all of my long-term lovers families, friends, and co-workers. I give my top do's and my don'ts on trans-dating. You'll get details on what it is being a trans-woman. My goal is to make men understand our perspective in the book, because I think you are better at dating the more you know about the sex you are interested in!

The book goes into many realms, but I ultimately hope it helps men become better at interacting with us. I am not dumb and realize many men will use the tips to get laid, but if it helps the serious men that get labeled "tranny chasers" unfairly I'll be satisfied! I hope it also gets men as they read to accept themselves more! Accepting yourself is the biggest goal!

I will admit I'm a bit of an analyzer! I use what I learned from my dating and time on forums and chatrooms to write this book. It was always my intention to write it. I feel now that I am 31 I have garnered enough knowledge to share on dating.

This is the first book, the second book will be for transsexuals. So many of my girlfriends get used or put all theireggs in one basket on a hopeless prospect. They also become jaded due to this. I try to touch on why they need to understand the men that date us more.

Not to mention I will also be touching on self-esteem in the book, because many girls are just hateful due to low self-esteem! Then lastly I'll be touching on this pipe dream many transsexuals have on the man they want to date. It's IMAGINARY..I wont go into details on the pipedream. You will have to guess!

I hope that answers your questions Jericho :)

Personally, I like the Star Trek font look. It really was the first thing that came to mind when I saw cover 4. Recognition is good when it comes to book covers I think... any recognition. The other three, to me look busy and a bit squished.

I really think 4 is golden... a great balance of space.

I personally like the last one

The contrast between white and pink is not strong enough; you might want to think of a bold colour for the negative, and a warm colour for the positive, pink is a feeble colour that only works when supporting others, white is a neutral colour that never works well on books (unless over a black background), even though this is more of a download than a hard-back edition.

Looks really classy!
Serious question..... Will it be available on download for Kindle/I-pad/tablet? I ask because I read a article a few months ago regarding books and readers etc, that discussed the kind of books people felt more comfortable downloading and concealing from prying eyes!
Fifty Shades of Grey was one book mentioned (to be clear I am not comparing your book to Fifty Shades!), a high percentage of the people asked said that they felt more comfortable reading it on their kindle as they didn't want prying eyes on the under ground as an example knowing what they were reading!
Fifty Shades in my eyes was a very clean, very Mills and Boon!
I can imagine that people with kids would be more compelled to download, I know that apple have very strict polices regarding who they work with for their apps and books etc, not sure about Kindle though.

I myself would be drawn to read your book and books alike as it is important for me in my line of work that I am able to offer valid advice etc to my clients, for my own reasons I would be drawn to download which is why I ask.

xx Bella

I can't wait to read this, so that I might pen a response. From what you've said on Facebook, I think you're overlooking more-alternative trans women in lieu of stereotyping. I really hope I'm wrong, because done right, a project like this could do a lot to help people understand the variations of gender presentation outside of that portrayed by the Barbie doll types (says a girl with a Barbie-like site logo, but I stand by the principle )!

I like the "chasing" in smaller font, but then I'm probably just being sensitive to the chaser label. lol :wiggle:

Looks like a timely topic, Kelly, and you seem like a good choice to deliver it. When you get to promotion stage, make sure you hit up Dan Savage. As a sex/dating advise columnist, this is right in his target area. I've always found his advise to be trans friendly, and I'm guessing he'd be amenable to promoting a real live trans author.

MrsKellyPierce

Bella you nit/pick

Those comments were pre-fixed with many/a lot of trans-women, not to mention examples of who many girls look to CIS or trans!

To say that many girls don't go for the Barbie doll, playboesque, exotic, and oozing sex look would be denial!

No where did I say at anytime, all Trans women are like this or want that look

You took issue because I didn't mention girls who go for the 50's pin up look or the least sexually appealing as possible look. Which many girls strive for to not be made a "mockery" or give into the male appetite!

So don't think I once generalized...

I was giving examples of why many trans-women come off vain to the outside looking in.

The status messages were in response to men saying trans-women are vain creatures, and another man that was asking why this way too hot transsexual for him wasn't interested in him.

Because many men think if you are transsexual no matter what they look like you will be desperate enough to go for it.

That's what the status messages had to do with, not generalization, examples of what MOST men see from transsexuals.

Most men see over-sexed, barbiesque girls through their outlet "porn"..so that's why I went with that example.

Bella you nit/pick

... and you can't take legitimate, constructive criticism! Never could!

To say that many girls don't go for the Barbie doll, playboesque, exotic, and oozing sex look would be denial!

To imply that they all do, or that girls that do outnumber other types of girls by such a margin that other types of girls aren't worth being mentioned are also indications of denial. :geek:

No where did I say at anytime, all Trans women are like this or want that look

I never did. But you clearly place so much importance on them that the others don't seem to exist in your world, and therefore your dating book. Are you saying that the rest of us aren't worth dating? :?

You took issue because I didn't mention girls who go for the 50's pin up look or the least sexually appealing as possible look. Which many girls strive for to not be made a "mockery" or give into the male appetite!

What's wrong with retro looks? I resemble that remark and you know it!

I also dress for me, and not for anyone else, the least of all a man.

So don't think I once generalized I was giving examples of why many trans-women come off vain to the outside looking in.

Yes, many. Not all. I'm glad we have that clear.

Because many men think if you are transsexual no matter what they look like you will be desperate enough to go for it.

What I said before still goes, but I didn't read the whole thread. (I still haven't read it all, but have a better idea of what you want.)

Go with the 4th (the one you like) but shade the background behind the white lettering more. Maybe to 60%darker blue. You can't make the white words in the same font as the pink (which works because of the subject matter-- your femininity) because the words won't fit in the space you want them in. "Stop Chasing" isn't as important as "Start Dating" but is more important than #1 implies. I do prefer the statement "Real advice from an actual Trans-Woman" in two lines as #1 has it.

Is "Trans-Woman" YOUR preferred term for the lovely woman you are? If not, use the term YOU prefer, not what anyone else tells you to use.

I don't like the dark line behind the word "Start."

Can the shaded pattern behind the lower half be stretched to fill the full page? And adjust the darkness as needed for contrast behind the lettering of the title?

I like the graphic. It suggests that the possibility of finding love without actually mentioning that "dirty" word.

3-color printing (red/blue/black) is much cheaper than full-color printing-- in the print world. Electronic books don't have that limitation. If the book is not going to be published on paper, go for color!

Kelly, love-- I'm not telling you what to do, I'm only making suggestions to help you find the best cover for your book.

Being a publisher who creates all his products' covers, my opinion is the lower left hand cover. It's easiest to read at a glance and it best fits the Fibonacci Golden Mean spiral rule of thumb.

Rabbiteyes
06-19-2013, 08:33 AM
I liked the third one (last in the top row).

You first get the "stop chasing", which is more of an attention grabber, makes you think "what am i chasing?! I shouldn't be chasing it?? " and then "start dating" ...and then you keep reading and are like "ooooooooohhhhhh transwomennnnn".

And then you giggle and point it to your friend for a laugh. But he kind of looks away shyly or doesn't laugh as hard. And then you pause, and realize he is a chaser!! And then you buy it for him as a gift for his birthday a few months later as a joke / but not a joke gift.

Rabbiteyes
06-19-2013, 08:37 AM
Actually, since your target is men... you might want to go with a less feminine design. Right now the giant gender symbols might be kind of embarrassing (and the overall feel is similar to romance novels that women read).

I would think that would keep a LOT of guys from having that sitting around their house so openly. (especially closeted or insecure guys, and lets face it...LOTSSS of chasers are crazy insecure about it)

I don't want to fix myself because I'm not broken. I actually do have my reasons. Your understanding of them is not necessary, to be honest. We're never going to agree here, so can we please drop it? I'm not the one who brought it up.

I do appreciate your protective instinct and what you're trying to do here though. More men should have that. I just think it's misplaced.

Sure you don't want to include a chapter called "Am I Gay?"

Your book is going to cause a crush of thread posts on this forum when it comes out!

J/K, in all seriousness, I like 4. Looks less busy than the rest to me. Maybe the Star Trek font catches my eye as a sci-fi nerd...

You definitely need an 'Am I Gay' chapter.
