i think the market determines it. it is probably because of feed back and download count where producers learn about what their consumers want that they realize certain types of women and certain types of scenes are valued above others.

It's true that variety is important and every performer is different. However, directors also need to realize who is buying the scene. Who will be watching it! If a director knows alot of viewers will dislike something that a performer likes to do then the director may want to tell the performer not to do that.
