In all fairness McDonald's is really good about cleaning the bathrooms. Just wish they didn't bring the spatula in there.

Study Finds Restaurant Ice is Dirtier Than Toilet Water

By The Daily Meal (http://shine.yahoo.com/blogs/author/the-daily-meal-ycn-1138927/) | Shine Food (http://shine.yahoo.com/blogs/shine-food/) – 3 hours ago

Please excuse us as we go toss our iced coffee; a new investigation from The Daily Mail has found that ice from McDonald's, Burger King, KFC, Starbucks, and more fast-food chains, tested in the U.K., was all more bacteria-ridden than toilet water.

The Mail reports that scientific tests found that all of the samples contained more bacteria than toilet water at the same place, but none of them presented an "immediate health danger."

Samples from McDonald's, KFC, and Nando's were suspected to be dirtied by things like a dirty ice machine, while Burger King responded to its results by saying it was probably an employee who didn't wash his or her hands.

Of course, this isn't the first time people have discovered the scary bacteria in ice; Grub Street has rounded up every instance of ice-bacteria research, enough to make you swear off iced drinks forever.

Here's some good advice but it's a little racist. I only go to McDonald's where legal/illegal Hispanic immigrants work. It's the Whites and the Blacks that'll pee in the ice tea. Darren Jackson was the guy when I worked at McDs at a teen. The Hispanics there seem to love the job and also seem like they would be less likely to jeopardize it. But racism is ignorance so eat where you want and don't listen to me. I'm pretty well dug in just the same.

That's why I always ask for no ice. Nowadays pop/soda SHOULD come out of drink dispensers already chilled like at A+W.

Meh, hasn't hurt me all these years....doubt it is going to start.

The world is COVERED in bacteria (it is all inside you, on your skin, on everything everywhere). That is kind of why we have immune systems. You can even eat stuff off the ground and you will be fine ~_~

Also, toilets are notoriously extremely clean. You are actually better off (bacteria speaking) eating off of a toilet than you are the kitchen table.

Basically, articles like this are just fear mongering sensationalism designed to create a bit of click-through traffic controversy ~_~ Hooray for modern media monetization strategies! :)

Whenever I am in third world or developing countries for work, I always take great care not to drink tap water, use ice or eat salad.. even in upscale hotels. A guy i was working with a couple of years ago and i attended a feast laid on by some Bedouin we were working with. The meat was great. (Roasted goat) But I warned him - and he ignored me - about eating the salads. He was ill for a week afterwards.

In a reversal of this kind of story, a diner at an Indian restaurant in the UK sprinkled his own pubic hair on the dish (Lamb Bhuna) and then refused to pay for it -he walked out without paying, was arrested, and is now in prison -which seems a bit harsh for a spicy curry...
