Yesterday, Nassau county District Attorney Kathleen Rice released the names and photos of over 100 men she "caught" in a sting operation where they were answering ads for prostitutes. They were just arrested, NOT CONVICTED. Rice says she used Craigslist and Backpages to trap these "criminals". There was no mention if they used the TS section or the GG section.

They did say they caught doctors, college professors and even a lawyer.

So please if you answer these ads, BE CAREFUL.

She isn't a cop.. She is a district attorney. The release of names is to score political points with her electorate. Most of her decisions that are crime related always have that focus, From turning worst of the worst DUI cases into murder charges to creating a permanent position to prosecute LGBT Hate Crimes.

The busts occured in a high rent district called Garden City...there has been a lot of activity recently in the area exactly because people with disposable income live and work there...the DA scored herself political brownie points and got her face on TV, so indeed her future partnership at the firm of Shyster, Scumbag, & Suethem is now assured.

a dangerous attention whore who had her 5 minutes of fame, aided and abetted by local news media who has its own nefarious agenda. The whole episode would be comical if not for the horrific levels of violent crime perpetrated against the citizens of Long Island every day, including young children caught in the crossfire of drug turf wars. There will be a time very soon when the DA will have to answer for her actions. Then it won't be so funny.

I've been there . There is a Mall nearby and a University . It is just off of the Parkway . [ not the LIE ] . Heck, the Nassau County Police HQ is just a few blocks away .

Garden City a small place but nearby areas are probably referred to being there .

G.C. has a train station for the L.I.R,R. . This is where that Ferguson dipshit shot those people on the train .

There is another big incident going on in the area . A college girl was killed by a NCPD officer in some kind of home invasion in her apt that she shared with her twin sister .

The college girl was killed when Nassau County officers opened fire in a home hostage situation. Had police held their fire, the incident could have ended without her loss of life.
Police misconduct? Lack of proper training? The DA has them busting dentists and stock brokers who visit escorts, so maybe the cops don't have too much practice in dangerous standoffs.

Who's going to investigate the DA ?

Stupid. Nearly a victimless crime. You would think a DA had more important things to do.

Eh, what pisses me off more is stuff like this (http://eminism.org/blog/entry/316). I was so angry when I first heard Chicago was doing that. Where I live you can be arrested if you're trans and carrying more than a certain number of condoms. It's considered intent to commit a crime.

lol i remember when craigslist was new, some guy made a post as a girl then printed all the replies he got on a blog that went viral (this was before EVERYONE had a blog). he even printed the names, phone numbers and in some cases, the phone conversations from the guys as they attempted to sue him.

i don't remember anything coming out of that, except some broken marriages and a lot of embarrassed men who swore off craigslist

She loved to mention the 'sex trafficking' angle of the whole thing at her press conference, as if she is some angel come down from heaven to save women forced into sex work. But there is nothing in these arrests to support any success against traffickers. If she actually arrested the men guilty of sex trafficking, I'd applaud her. But, that would take actual work on her part.

Forget about the fact that she terrorized otherwise law abiding men for no apparent reason other than drawing attention to herself..... By diverting precious law enforcement resources for purposes of her media show is an act of blatant criminality. Can DA's be impeached? Doubt Cuomo would have the backbone to ax her even if he had the authority.

If any twitter people are interested in asking DA Rice about the effectiveness of her tactics she's doing a Twitter Town Hall. The subject matter is not limited to the sting but I'm sure she'll address all respectful intelligent questions. No, I don't think she'll be giving out any details about future sting plan details.

You'd think in a country that has more of its citizens incarcerated than any other nation in the world, that girls earning a buck from horny guys and/or the vicious pursuit of weed, that this nation would learn the criminal street is Wall Street and not some corner in Garden City, LI, NY.

F'ing crazy to me that the as long as a provider is operating out of free will and of the age of consent, ain't nobodies f'in business what she/he do. As for the John's, as long as the aren't with somebody who is not operating in free will and of age, what problem does create for society? To each there own IMHO

Garden City is probably one of the few "Old Money" towns in Nassau County and there are tons of grey hairs who find anything disturbing their perfect little hamlet to be a scourge on society.

I am not surprised that the sting occurred in Garden City as when I am on business there I have been stopped by the Police while driving back to my hotel for a "Safety Check" because my rental car is not the usual Garden City car.

She's actually a Left-wing Democrat Bitch. Remember, the Left are the ones always making LAWS that restrict your rights. The Right is always telling you to limit yourself on your own. That's the difference.

she views the prostitutes as victims and the johns as criminals. it's a philosophy thats gained traction among New York liberals but it's the first time someone with the vast authority of a DA has actively and systematically used police to entrap johns.
My question for Ms Rice: "In the 3 months since your sting operation, has prostitution activity in Nassau county decreased?"

I don't believe she has public opinion on her side despite Garden City's old world money reputation. Even though you might live outside her jurisdiction it's important to reach out to her office and voice your disapproval for her actions.

I've come to the conclusion that D.A.'s and the police are even worse than the common criminal. Entrapping lonely men is a human rights violation, especially that prostitution is legal in most Western industrialized developed countries.

Just to clarify a minor point, these busts might have been in a Garden City zip code, but not within the village itself. If the johns had actually visited prostitutes in GC proper they wouldn't have been busted, as the Village of Garden City has its own police force. The busts were actually in an unincorporated part of the town of Hempstead, which would fall under the Nassau PD jurisdiction.

she won the Democratic primary yesterday and most likely will win the November election. On to Washington DC for DA Rice. If she works as hard bashing the Republicans as she did arresting and prosecuting tricks we'll have a great new congresswoman for Long Island
