A girl I went to university with was a child extra in the Wicker Man. While some of it was filmed in the western isles, most of it was done on the Solway coast near Castle Douglas.

And she said that Christopher Lee was diffident, but charming and kind and that the filming was a lot of fun. None of it scared her till she saw it on screen.
