I could have just used Beaner since it is Gender Neutral . Spick would not apply because it refers to the combination of all groupings and I was differentiating per the mention of Rican . Chicano can be used in several forms:

correct example:
She comes from the Chicano culture, so it is understandable why she acts as she does. (referring to lifestyle behavior or other outward gestures)

correct spanish example:
Ella tiene estilo Chicano, y es orgullosa de ser Hispana. (she has Chicano style, and is proud to be Hispanic)

incorrect english example:
She is a chicano. (emphasis on the "a" before chicano)

incorrect spanish example:
Ella es un(una) Chicano. (wrong no matter how you word it)

Correct slang use, specially for non spanish speakers:
She is chicano ( meaning she is from Chicano upbringing or lifestyle, very different from saying "she is A chicano")
