Transexuals seeking office in Philippines and Pakistan

It is election time, in Pakistan over this past weekend Hijras stood for the first time as candidates in the elections as a 'third gender'; while in the Philippines there is a separate political party, Ang Ladlad which is fielding candidates.

It would take some balls (no pun intended) to run for any office in Pakistan, especially a transgender candidate.

I just watched an episode of Vice on HBO that covered politics and assassinations in the Philippines. You have got to be one brave person to run over there.
