I think it would be great to own a trans bar, but the bullshit Steve (the owner of Divas) has to put up with is unimaginable.

You don't even know the half!
Steve is a good dude who has to put up with a difficult clientele. In this particular instance, there's nothing the man can do but what he did. I was there.

I remember, as if it were yesterday, the old days of The Motherlode and The Black Rose. These were the bars from back in the day in San Francisco that came before Divas (late 80's to mid 90's). I understand that Divas was opened by the owner of The Motherlode and later sold. I went to Divas a couple times. Hated the vibe. Nothing like the old bars. The old bars had lunch time crowds, happy hour crowds, and the late night sex worker crowd. If you were a lunch time or happy hour patron you actually stood a good chance of meeting a nice girl. And not all the girls were sex workers / escorts. For many in the TG/TS community -- and their admirers -- it was our Cheers. They were not dark hiding places but places where you went to meet your friends. The problem, as I see it, is the current owner is straight (or identifies as such). Truth is these places always operate best when owned by those who identify as members of the community it serves.

Well the club def has history... I use to dance here with a few known girls back in the day...

I remember meeting Eva Lin in that club, and Monique Dior...

It really has potential, it just needs better biz strategy...

Money was good back on 2005-2009, after it just wasn't the same.

I think a couple months ago, someone got their eye permanently poked out by a girl's shoe.

Why do TS's always go for their shoes? lol

There were so many changes right around that time, most of them having to do with the real estate and dot-com bubbles bursting at the same time. Steve brought me on in 2008, and we've been working on reaching out to a wider audience and re-vamping our public profile. I would love to hear your suggestions though. PM me if you'd like to contribute!

Actually, Steve has been married to a t-girl for well-over a decade. I would say that makes him a member of the community.
Divas has different nights for different needs. If you're looking for quiet nights with a "good girl", Sunday Karaoke is a fun and mellow night for intimate conversation. If you're looking for "bad girls", that would be Wednesday and Thursday Nights with The Divas Darlings. The weekends are dance-club and midnight shows.
The schedule has been the same for years. Steve wants to serve the entire community, and he does so my making just about each night a little different. You can't go on a Monday or Tuesday expecting a Wednesday or Thursday kinda vibe.

Yeah, that happened. It was fucked up. I know both of the participants in this, and all I can say is that it was a tragedy that didn't really have to happen.

I saw some people talking about it on Redbook.

Did the bitch go to jail?

It was Brianna aka Monique Dior, and no, she did not go to jail. There was enough ambiguity about who touched whom when that she was able to avoid any legal repercussions.

I think it did destroy the last shred of her already horrible reputation. From what I understand, her last rip-off tour through the Bay Area was a bust. Everybody in SF knows who she is now. The rest of you have been warned.

Oh....
This Brianna, right?

That's the old-school Brianna, with the lovely and talented Jasmine and who is that on the left, Kendie? Is that Pride 2008?

This is the newer Brianna/Monique Dior, who was involved in the stiletto-heel vs. eye incident:

To complicate things further, there is a brand new Brianna in SF who is a real sweetheart. Latina with a pretty smile and dirty blond hair.

I dunno I was gonna go there but things didn't work out... I later heard its in a pretty bad area but I heard it was lots of fun years ago before my time really there is a place in Houston like that... was fun once now it's just not safe to go..

Its definitely in on a pretty bad street filled with prostitutes and huslters, but 50 ft away, its mostly college students wandering down the bar scene in Polk Gultch. If you're aware and not too drunk you have nothing to worry about.

Its awesome that its there, even on my worst nights there, I feel lucky that it exists. Though I don't go there much anymore, as the hustle gets old. In the end, its really one big bordello (with a hotel next door).

My first encounter with a tg woman was at the Black Rose decades ago & I went to a few other Tenderloin bars on rewarding visits there in the 80s & 90s, but I could never get the motivation to go into Divas the times I've been there. It looks like the stereotypical bad scene from the outside (dark & unlit facade in a marginal nabe, shady characters always lingering around the front door waiting for the next mark).

While the neighborhood is down at the heels other places have made an effort to be a bit more inviting. Haven't been there in quite a while tho, glad there is at least one place like this, more than NYC has now.

...and boy howdy, those WERE indeed the days
...didn't go in a lot, but used to like to hang out in the general vicinity of the Motherlode....very, for lack of a better word, interesting scene
....miss the Black Rose ...always fun and they served the strongest drinks in town
