Hmmm let's think logically about this? What to rockers and transgender women have in common? It's long hair. So I guess the moral of the story is... Don't let your hair grow long or you just may become a tgirl. Next thing you know, you'll be waiting in line for SRS.

I'm part of the metal, punk and hardcore scene and I'm a trans guy. I don't think there's a connection, though. However, trans people have been part of the underground music scene since the beginning. With punk, you can take it back to at least Jayne County.

Temptest,

Let me know when you head to Milwaukee. Maybe I can meet you out for a drink. Can be a cool town, can also be a total shit hole...lmao. That's my town.

And do we think Dino is about to come out as transgendered because of his taste for death metal?

I read somewhere that metalheads and punkers tend to be some of the most open minded people you will meet, despite the redneck stereotype of many metal fans. I can say that my formative years I listened to mostly metal and punk exclusively and many of the shows I attended always had crossdressers, goths, punks, andro, and regular people in attendance. Crobar in Chicago used to live off that crowd, and the Metro was usually always a fun crowd too.

Many of the punks and metal fans are used to being labeled freaks and outcasts. For them to accept others that also get applied with that label is not too shocking, they know the ropes at least to an extent.

Actually I think I saw it on a documentary of the metal culture. If I remember right it was about 5 years ago and it was done by a cultural anthropologist who was himself a metal fan. Pretty fascinating stuff.

Most Metal and Punk's tend to reject societies stereo types and that includes those about gender - we do what we please and we dont care if the rest of the world dont understand.
