I can't eat grilled cheese without strawberry jam.

I feel like pickles and cheese are pretty standard, but...yum!

Marmite looks awful and what is this Sanitarium Health Food Company that hands it out?

My mom and dad were into some weird combos..peanut butter and onion sandwiches or their banana peppers and butter sandwiches. I think the worst I do is chili and bologna sandwiches - sort of like a chili dog, but flatter!

Well you sometimes develop a whole exciting new recipe by putting weird shit together. But only one time in maybe 50.

Must sound exotic to a Geordie!

Most disgusting combination I can remember was in a lockin in a pub in Kent many years ago where we set out to come up with the most revolting concoction from all the drinks in the bar.

The winner was Hollands gin with the juice from a jar of cockles. Unspeakable.

Marmite is a yeast extract spread. In Australia they have similar called Vegemite

Marmite is made in Burton-on-Trent, traditionally the beer capital of the English midlands and the home of Bass and Marstons, inter alia. I used to travel there on business in the late 80s and you could always tell when a new batch of Marmite was on the go, because it made the whole town stink of rotting cabbage. To this day, whenever someone opens a jar of Marmite it's that cabbage I can smell.

It's a mix of Satan's farts and treacle and should be banned under the Geneva Convention for chemical weapons. Fucking horrible.

I hollow out brine pickles (I like Bubbie's brand if I don't have any homemade) and fill them with blue cheese. Refrigerate for 30 minutes and enjoy.

I get crap for putting french fries on my burger, so I'm a little cautious as to what counts as "gross." But I've been told I have quite a few gross ones....

1.) Ketchup on taco bell tacos.
2.) Melting slices of American cheese into beef flavored Ramen Noodles
3.) A grilled cheese sandwich but using macaroni & cheese, bacon, and crumbled doritos in the middle.
4.) Kimchi on pizza
5.) The 3-Way (It's a southern Ohio thing) Chili (no beans) with spaghetti, and cheddar cheese.
6.) White-Chocolate coke - 1 small bottle of coca-cola, 2 tablespoons of chocolate syrrup, and one and a half cups melted french vanilla ice-cream, mix, chill and serve as a beverage.

Love haggis!

My odd combo is Bacon well done , with Marmalade in a toasted sandwich, or if no marmalade you can use syrup ....... Salty and sweet, yum yum!

Prospero
04-06-2013, 02:22 PM
Now that is weird timid.... though i guess a sort of UK variant on fried food with Maple syrup so beloved of the Americans in diners.

Seems that some slimy gelatin from the Prince Of Darkness' taint might be flung in for good measure. I read it on the Wikipedia.

I'm going to try this tomorrow.

Go light on the doritos crumbles until you get the right amount to not overpower it. Also, if you can find the Stouffers Mac & Cheese in your freezer section, that's the best.

Oh, and make sure the Mac has been cooked, and at room temp. It's a little bit of work, but totally worth it.

I don't deny any of that, but it doesn't stop Marmite from being the vilest foodstuff on the planet.

Apart from Hershey's Chocolate, of course, which tastes exactly like when you get a bit of sick in your mouth. Vomit-flavoured chocolate - it will never catch on.

You want to know why the French don't like Americans? It's because when the GI's got there after D-Day they fed that stuff to unsuspecting French kids who hadn't tasted the real stuff for five years. It's why French folk of a certain age have a permanent sneer - they can still taste it.
