95% of all "reality" shows

otherwise, I've seen at least one episode of shows considered critical or commercial successes since the late 80s.

This is difficult because we don't get every US series here or it is in the wilderness of SKy -but I haven't seen any of the cartoon programmes of recent vintage, I think they are called South Park, My American Dad and the one which has a character with spiky hair whose name I forget; and so on -but I did watch the Flintstones and Yogi Bear when young, and Tom & Jerry is easly the finest ever made.

Saw one episode of survivor, and it turned me off to reality tv, forever. Haven't seen any cooking show, singing, dancing, talent or boo boo shows, no ice road truckers, american choppers, they tell me some bimbo named snooki has a show - haven't seen it, no kardashians, no dumbass housewives from any city, never watched Ozzie Ozbourne nor any of his brood, none of those old time mtv reality shows, in other words... none.

Do you have an interest in American sit-coms from the 1970s? My favorites were All In The Family, Sanford & Son, Taxi, and Barney Miller. Great era for comedy. Maybe catch some old Saturday Night Live episodes during the first four seasons too. Hopefully they are available for rental or purchase.

I love TV so much I spend $150 a month for DirecTV. I go to Best Buy on Tuesdays hunting down new Blu-rays and DVDs too.

btw: i really hate how if you ask people what their favorite tv show is, they'll usually name something that came out recently (like breaking bad or lost)

I didn't have a tv for much of the 70s, and haven't seen any of the sit-coms you mentioned, but I did eventually see one episode of something called Laverne & Shirley, and spent the subsequent half-hour staring at the wall in blank confusion. And no, I really don't want to know what it was about.

By the way, Dino, there's a good BBC show that should be coming your way soon, called Ripper Street. It's a police thriller, set in London in 1889 just after the Jack the Ripper murders, filmed in Dublin, with a strong cast, good storylines and plenty of gore.

Reminded me of a UK Deadwood but without the swearing.

Steve Harvey is on the TV again. Is there some sorta Orkin Man to get rid of him? Airwaves are infested.

I've never seen Walking Dead or any other show that's new in the last 4 years.

Except New Girl- I watched a couple of episodes on Hulu- and Whitney.

I love Zooey Deschanel and people were slamming Whitney so bad. . .

Those are my excuses. Zooey, hot, Whitney, train wreck.

Flabby, you're trying to tell us you never saw Curb Your Enthusiasm? I also never saw it but I never saw Seinfeld either. Aren't you the ultimate demo for both?

Did you guys ever see a BBC thriller from the 80s called "Edge of Darkness"? Hollywood did a so-so film remake with Russell Crowe a few years ago. It starred a great British actor called Bob Peck and was way ahead of its time in forecasting environmental apocalypse. It also featured Joe Don Baker, and he's never been better.

Finally, the haunting theme was by Eric Clapton, and imho it was his finest hour.
