just like Paul Ryan he has to mention that his mommy's on Medicare so naturally he'd never attempt to disrupt benefits. like who gives a fuck about the scumbag's mother. The idea that an etitlement is morally correct on its own merits is not part of his logic.

Instead of reciting an irrelevant pre-written speech, had he actually thought about and responded to the actual points Obama made in his address, perhaps Rubio wouldn't have gotten so nervous and freaked.

Trish you are asking a lot of Rubio who best I can tell is a machine politician with no principles beyond his success and feeding those that will feed his success.

For all the GOP hopes they found their answer Obama and to their problem with Latinos, they have found themselves a guy with nominal talent, limited intellectual capability and put him back on the big stage for a second look far too quickly after the convention and the electoral defeat that soon followed.

What the GOP doesn't get yet is that they didn't lose because Romney was a bad candidate, they lost because they have bad ideas and if Romney hadn't done a complete U-turn in the debates and ran away from most of the more conservative ideas that won him the nomination, Romney would have lost in a landslide. It was only because Romney change his dogma about limits on taxation for the wealthy, dismantling social safety nets and engaging in sane foreign policy that he only got drilled in that election instead of drown.

But the GOP does not really get that people don't like most of their policies, so they thought get a good looking kid with a Latino surname and put him upfront and center.

While Rubio fell flat on his face if Bill Clinton taught us anything it was that American politics allow for many second chances.

But until the GOP figures out that the majority of America isn't making $200K, isn't white, male and 55 or older and gets off the wedge issues that alienate women, LGBT community and turn off folks born after 1980 they are going to have a problem as long as their opposition can get those folks to vote. And the GOP would truly be up the river without a paddle if folks over 60 ever figured out what the GOP's vision will do for them unless their 401K still has $1M after Enron and then Lehman Brothers took runs at it.

To me Marco Rubio is what the GOP tried to accuse Barack Obama of, he is an empty suit and he is not very fast on his feet or deep in his thinking,

Marco Rubio enjoyed his 5 minutes of fame...the most ridiculous part of US politics in recent times is that we talk about the next Presidential election for years before it happens.

Of recent Presidents I can't think that any of these were favorites in four years prior to their election in their first term:

Barack Obama
George W Bush
William Jefferson Clinton
Ronald Reagan
James Earl Carter
Richard Nixon
John Kennedy

So Marco Rubio's early ID as the savior of the GOP is of corse premature. And let's not forget that a blown moment on the USA nation stage means nothing. Bill Clinton probably gave the worst and without a doubt longest nominating speech ever for Dukais in 1988 and 4 years later became President.

Now I personal think that if the GOP wishes not to be the 21st Century Whigs they are going to have to more than find a white looking hispanic guy to rattle off their line of bullshit of what is good for Exxon will trickle down to you, that Marco's sad response to the POTUS state of the union was not the end of his career just a night that he real did show he was ready for primetime yet and unlike more brilliant politicians like Clinton he did not instantly turn his camel mouth into positive PR as Bill turned his verbosity into positive collateral.
