Any of you remember the Black Rose? It was a tranny bar on Jones Street in SF back in the late 80's early 90's. It was the first tranny club I ever went to. To a 21 year old kid that was new to the scene it was off the hook. White, Black, Asian, Latina they were all in there. It was the kind of place you could go into in the early afternoon and you would meet a totally different kind of girl than you would see at night. I liked the girls I could meet in there during daylight hours. Back then SF was the hot spot. Leilani, and Julie Bond were out there and they were so fine.
I've been to other tranny bars like Sally's and Edelweis in NYC but nothing compares to that old hole in the wall in SF. When the club closed many girls moved up the block to The Motherlode, now known as Divas, but it was never the same as The Black Rose. At the Motherlode some people didn't feel as welcome. The Black Rose is what turned me out and made me a tranny lover.
