View Full Version : Bizarre Phobias

As far as phobias, I have a couple of standard ones being heights and water. I also have concerns about the veins in my arms being severed through my clumsiness and crows plucking out my eyeballs.

Swimming in lakes. Funny, I don't have the same fear of the ocean tho-

I thought I saw a shark in a lake once.

Told a friend who was a surfer about all the sharks in the ocean. He thought I was being paranoid. Two days later a Great White grabbed some surfer. I felt vindicated when I re-confronted him.

Not heights, falling. The actual falling.

I lost 100lbs at such a psychotic rate by brain didn't catch up to my body. My body would move rapidly(most people call that running) but my brain went into panic mode not being able to process the new frame rate worried about the destruction of the shell. Just another voice in my head. Join the crowd. The impossible is the probable.

nothing special really
i hate anything with its skeleton on the wrong side (spiders and insects mostly)
and i have some reservations against standing at the edge of a cliff or similar (not because i really have a fear of heights but because i know im clumsy; if i lay down or if theres something to ensue i cant fall i can stare down into the deep infinitely long)

I have that exact same fear.
Fine looking down heights, looking out the window on a airplane etc. But the thought of falling makes me feel sick.
Rollercoasters where you fall quickly, they also make me feel sick.

Its even the falling straight down. When I went to Ceder Point I did OK on the Roller Coasters, but when it came to the Demon Drop and the Power Tower....I was shaking, and in tears....and I was turning 28 soon. We were not even a hour after a 2+ hour drive, and I wanted to go home right then.

I ignore the wasps by the clothesline but keep both eyes on those crows that I know are talking about me and planning something as they are perched on the powerlines.

I have fear of leeches, I had that fear since I was five when I watched the old 1950s horror B movie called Attack Of The Giant Leeches, it traumatized me, that's why I avoided swimming in ponds, lakes, and rivers due to my concern of them having leeches

Ever heard of a Brown Recluse Spider? Be careful where you reach around. Could have more risk than the usual way.

Going back to the fear of heights. It's not the height that worries me. It is the lure of the edge. Put me at the edge of a cliff and have a strange wish to try and fly! So far never tried.

You're smart to stay away. Look back at that pic. That dude is no sissy but he was wincing somethin' awful.

I saw a Law & Order SVU episode that didn't help. This lady, who studied spiders, was also a psychopathic killer. She said, "No matter where you are a spider is always within 6 feet of you." That was the sanest thing she said in the 58 minutes. Not much of a swimmer, I guess.

I am ok with spiders, because they are intelligent and eat bugs -however, they don't pay the rent so if I find one in my apartment I usually trap it in a glass, and set it free outside where I know it will enjoy life much more. I believe that like snakes Spiders are deaf.

Mice and rats -I can't cope with them -when I first left home I was living in a small garret in London which had them and I thought I was going to go mad; I have been lucky since then, but even when I see them outside I am convinced it means bad luck and something bad/negative usually happens. The world has no need of them, like flies. Exterminate them all!

Mosquitos are a means to an end for my ball scalding activities in the shower. Gotta make 'em itch before you burn 'em. I wear little shorts and skip around the back yard in the Summertime trying to entice them.
