Was thinking about this the other day while enjoying some Lebanese Food. When I was a kid I ate potatoes with most things. Now that I'm older and the city has changed demographically I find myself eating rice with pretty much every meal.

I don't eat bread or potatoes any more, but it was the staple of my diet growing up. Every dinner/supper included potatoes of some variant. Now that I only eat once a day it's usually just meat in some form and a sizeable portion of vegetables. I don't find rice palatable at all.

Love potatoes , but eat a lot less than I used to . Pasta nice as an alternative. Not keen on planned boil rice , but like the unhealthier stuff in Chinese and Indian restaurants!

I voted "rice". I make it a lot at home- wild rice, though. Chewy, nutty, and delicious.

Technically it's a type of grass seed, I'm told. Whatever.

Anybody have one of those fancy-shmancy rice cookers? I use an old rice pot with a snap-on lid but am thinking about getting one.

'taters. Mashed, boiled, fried, whatever.
Normally, only eat rice with a take-away. :shrug

Dino, if you get a rice cooker make sure it has a "fuzzy logic" button.

I found an explanation of how it works, but if you ask me the "fuzzy logic" button is just magic.

'don't really know which I eat more of, but I voted 'taters 'cause they're what I prefer...little red ones, steamed (or baked) in their skins, quartered, buttered and sprinkled with black pepper.

Me too. I even drive across town to find Korean vs Japanese vs Indian Basmatti rice for the pantry at home.

Are you a good cook, young lady? Nice post.
