Best of luck with that. With the passport rules changing on both sides of the border, the future should be 'interesting', at the very least.

I just got back from NF,NY where I hung out with some members of the Canadian military and a couple of retired Canadian border workers and they, along with a number of disgruntled travelers from both countries, had some really bizarre tales to share.

Worst seems to be that Canadian INS guards are really squeezing US tourists in retaliation for some of the grief that the US has been giving Canadians. Though it seems to be focused on the major commercial crossings (Fort Erie, Windsor, etc.). One friend of mine told of how he was denied entry because of a ten-year old DUI on his record (Even though he was on a tour bus, this still kept him out). Another was denied entry because of a charge (But no conviction) for minor assault. I believe in keeping out the riff raff, but this goes beyond that.

I got bounced from Canada in 1984 by a border guard that was clearly soliciting a bribe, but had I offered one (Which is something I don't do), I'm sure he would have popped me for it and I would have spent my vacation in a courtroom.

Nah, just having too much fun and getting my papers together. Seems to take for ever all the beuraucracy.
I hear great things instore for trans people in NYC. right on !!
