One of the writers at AVN sent IAFD a comment about how they list us and here is the feedback. I hope and suggest fans, TS, etc to shoot them an email about their response and how we are listed. It is 2012 for God's sake LOL

At this point, we go with genitalia, not self-image. Born a boy gets
you marked as a M in our database; we're not currently structured for a
third gender. When they go post-op we create a second profile in the
opposing gender at that point to track those movies and then we link the
two profiles together.

Dear IAFD,

My name is Wendy Williams (http://www.iafd.com/person.rme/perfid=wendywilliams/gender=m/wendy-williams.htm) I am 2009 AVN and 2010 XBIZ TS Performer of the Year. I am transgendered and labeled as a "Transsexual WOMAN". My genital does NOT define my sexuality or how I am labeled not only by psychologists (Transgender - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transgender)) but also the Porn world (Category: STRAIGHT Specialty (fetish). I noticed you have me listed as "male" and under "gay". First you are doing a huge injustice to your readers. Since not only do men who are into TS women identify themselves as straight (reflected on how we are listed in Porn) but also you are behind in time and it's rude and borderline discrimination. If you are going to label my movies for fans to search then how are they going to find me when they would never look under the "gay" category. I was confused when you linked the AVN and XBIZ Nominations for the "straight" AVN Awards in January yet you link my profile from a "gay" category. I have been in the Adult Industry for 11 years and to see something like this in 2012 is confusing and behind times. I ask that you please remove me from the GAY category and listed as male as I can provide you my LEGAL DOCUMENTATION (driver license, sscard) that states I am FEMALE. I have lived my life as Wendy for many years and all my LEGAL paperwork and daily lifestyle reflect me as a Transsexual WOMAN.

I look forward to speaking to you further on the matter and seeing my profile updated to show my TRUE and LEGAL sex, female.

Wendy Williams

Their excuse is probably one the stupidest things I've heard when it comes to trans. Your e-mail was spot on Wendy.

Seanchai should write them an email about this because its insulting to the girls but also its a disservice to the genre..

Oh I know. and i'm going to. But I think it would carry more weight if Seinchai does it as well just because so many of the girl's images are provided courtesy of Grooby Productions..

Wait....so their database can handle linking two separate "gender specific files" together as one entry...something I'm almost certain the database was not designed for originally, and yet they cant create a 3rd category?

I've emailed them a long time ago and asked to be completely removed from their databases. They don't give a crap. Everyone should totally spam their email and tweet at them though:

I also recommend submitting DMCA notices on your profile photos just to create some extra work for them. Fuck IAFD.

It's shocking how much intolerance and bigotry towards TGs there still is in the adult entertainment industry.

Why is it so hard for them to create a 3rd 'transgender' category??
Bullshit.

They're behind the times and a database isn't much of a database at all if an additional category cannot be added with ease.

But even though they are behind, I don't think it means they are a bunch of bigots with hostile attitudes towards the TG community. They're being lazy.

Stubborness and ignorance place some on the wrong side of history.

As the country moves further towards acceptance of touchstone issues such as gay marriage and equality there are those determined to fight for outmoded ways of oppressing others through institutional bigotry.

I really believe that eventually how trans individuals are viewed will be as matter of fact as gays are viewed today, that it, accepted by most but still facing those determined to put their biases upon them.

The crazy thing is this would be a great way for the industry to get out in front of a acceptance and fairness issue that is obviously moving forward.
