I know alot of guys only think of escorts and pornstars when we think of TS, just wondering does anyone know an estimate of the US TS Girl population. Just wondering how many are really out there, especially since the Escorts i feel have been the same rotation of girls for the past couple of years.

The US doesn't have TS...just a U, not a T.

I'm not sure about the actual number, but they seem to be in the more liberal US cities, cities with a higher LGBT population

Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, and Miami come to mind for me

Living here in Orlando I am surprised there aren't more living here considering it's in the top 10 for LGBT population percentage wise. Most "tgirls" here are just men in the late 40s and 50s who bought a few outfits at Ross, a cheap wig, some make up and called it a day. I know there are some very beautiful and passable girls out there who AREN'T in porn or are "working" but that number I believe is very few sadly at least here in Florida. I cannot speak for other cities.

When I lived in Las Vegas, I was told to go to West Hollywood if I wanted to meet some lovely trans women. Never had an opportunity to go though

They must have been trying to keep them to themselves; there are quite a few girls in Las Vegas.

Definitely lots of girls in Vegas, I met quite a few of them in the 2 years I lived there (2010-2012) Sadly all but one of them were working girls. I could be wrong but LA seems to have the most (highest number) of attractive trans women who aren't working, even if they are in porn. Idk I'm weird about it

Somehow I'd be ok if my girl (g or T) did porn, but I wouldn't be ok with them escorting. But usually, women who do porn, also escort as I have found out.

I grew up a lot in the 2 years I lived in Las Vegas, from being a naive 20 yr old kid from the suburbs of Orlando, to being a lot more mature, out going, and street smart 22 yr old I am now

Well it's a good sign that you distinguish between escorts and pornstars on the one hand and the overall TG population on the other, since only a small percentage of TG women (or men) are either escorts or pornstars. However, it's extremely difficult to come to anything resembling an actual demographic statistic, for a great many reasons, not least of which are a) a great many are stealth, not wanting to reveal their birth gender, and b) there are so many types of transgenderism, from MtF transsexual (either pre-, post-, or non-op), to TV/CD and gender queer.

The most common figure I've seen in various studies is about 0.5% of the population who identify as transsexual (thus exclusing CD and gender queer). That would make around 150,000 in the USA. But other studies place that figure much higher. In 2002, Lynn Conway, a professor at the University of Michigan, estimated male-to-female transsexualism in the United States to be in the range of 1 in 500 to 1 in 2,500 (see http://ai.eecs.umich.edu/people/conway/TS/TSprevalence.html). For another interesting study: http://williamsinstitute.law.ucla.edu/wp-content/uploads/Gates-How-Many-People-LGBT-Apr-2011.pdf

Its impossible to guess since most trans women, who aren't in the "business", more than likely live stealth/low profile.... I'm not an escort, nor am I a pornstar, but I am on YouTube and don't live stealth(only when dating)

Basically, however many you think are out there.... Double or triple it

Lynn Conway says that there would be 500 000 transsexual who would already have had srs in the United States alone. She has it that there is a prevalence of 1 out of 500 to even 1 out of 250 people with just MtF transsexualism, which would make for incredibly high numbers: up to 1 200 000 in the United States.

These numbers seems too high for me, but who knows? They might very well be accurate. Doctors are kept to professional secret and ts patients usually don’t want to advertise their condition, but of course rather live a normal life in their intimate gender –through srs or not.
Personally, I wouldn’t be surprised if there wasn’t some kind of biological phenomenon occurring, especially since the end of WW2 and increasing in time. After all, we do know that the fertility rate (sperm count) has been dramatically falling during that period, and we also know of agents massively present in the environment (xenoestrogens) that does have a feminising effect on animal life, and as far as we know, also on humans.
Here are some infos on numbers:

It's Mother Nature taking care of the overpopulation problem.
She could only get so far with the gay thing so figured, "Hey, I'll pop out some T-Girls"!

....Or, it's a Shadow Government conspiracy and they're fucking with the water! :shrug

Wouldn't it be the best conspiracy ever thought of? I'm ok with some new ratios: 10% men, 90% women...

There are 18,652,532 Trans women and if you don't believe go count it yourself. Because I have and its the number I ended up with. :D

Well they claim the number can be as low as one in 250. I'd say it might be higher than that, with girls like Carmen Moore and her sister, and cousin. Gina&Geneva, and Britney Markham and Audrina Markham increasing the odds in families. So there is probably around a few million, mostly unannounced and just living their lives

You're more typical of my experience, Jen. I know plenty of girls who just live their lives, holding down ordinary jobs and many, I'm pleased to say, in loving relationships. Certainly far more than escorts and girls in porn. OK, this is a UK perspective, but I suspect it's pretty representative. And of the girls I know who do escort, most are in it with a short or medium-term objective to make enough to pay for surgeries, often including full srs, and then retire into a relationship with an ordinary guy like any other wife or partner.

What's really important as time goes on and society becomes more accepting, is that girls shouldn't have to live their lives in stealth and should be free to be open and proud about their origins and status. I reckon we're not too far away from that in the UK - 20 years maybe - but in the US with the wingnut fundamentalists in the Republican Party it could still take generations.

And on a personal note, I'm delighted that you're into a steady relationship - you deserve it.

In the USA, 1 in 250 would be over 1.2 million total. Yeah, it's in the millions.

ironically, overpopulation reduction, as a conspiracy, doesn't make sense for those in power. when you have a large populace, cost of labor drops and therefore your profits rise. it just makes you richer and richer. sure they are a pest but you don't have to live around the poor/destitute.

dear poor man, and feminized woman:
i am in the super rich bracket, please continue to churn out dime a dozen babies who will be ready to work in my sweatshops or fields for pennies on the dollar. i bring to you institutionalized/sophisticated slavery at its finest since ancient greece, egypt, africa, mesopotamia. don't like it? go starve. next in line, step up and work or die, all while i dangle a ferrari you may be able to earn yourself up to one day, that is if healthcare costs don't bankrupt you. tee hee! oh btw, i own those private healthcare companies who will bankrupt you. thinking about rebelling? i also own stock ticker CXW on cnbc, corporations corrections of america. please come on in and fill a bed so tax dollars can fund my portfolio. you didn't think i wasn't going to let you get away that easy, did you?

I think that 1 in 500 number may be a bit low. I don't get around a lot and my part of the country is conservative. However, I've known three who have changed gender while I knew them: one at the local library, one in our neighborhood, and one employee at a local gun store. And, who knows who is out there and is keeping quiet about it.

Breast augmentation seems to be rather common in Tgirls. Not sure if Tgirls go out of the US for their rack due to all of the "must be under councilling" before we do it routine. However, it appears that in 2010 well under 1% (it notes 0%) of the 296,000 procedures were on males. Possibly they classify under female?

I identify as queer, since I'm not a full TS but I am instead more TV/CD.

I may not count in the survey, but there's definitely a lot of us out here.

There are even more if you include CD and TVs (and, yes, I include them because most of them have the TS mindset even without hormones or plastic surgery).

I used to crossdress years ago with my ex-wife’s eager participation. And if the hormone and surgery advances had been in place just a few years ago, I would have started on the road to being a TS with her approval.

I’m sure there are many others like that who can’t afford the surgery or know that they will find problems with others accepting them.
