Idiot seems shocked by fallout from racist Obama comment
Uninhibited access to social media has definitely shone a brighter spotlight on stupidity. Denise Helms of Turlock, Calif., is mystified as to why the racist comment about Obama she posted on Facebook — you know, that community with more than 1 billion users — has attracted so much attention. Since posting, "And another 4 years of the (N-word) maybe he will get assassinated this term..!!" Tuesday night, Helms has been fired and is now being investigated by the Secret Service.

Having black president has actually made people more racist, poll says

our nation is even more racist than before? A paradoxical AP poll has found that 51 percent of Americans now hold explicit anti-black attitudes compared to 48 percent....

A woman who made a post, using a racial slur and referencing assassination, about President Obama on Facebook has been fired from her job.

Cold Stone Creamery spent much of Thursday responding to angry tweets about the woman’s post.

“This employee is no longer w/the (sic) company & her disgraceful and completely unacceptable comments do not reflect our views,” one such tweet read.

Denise Helms had already removed her post and has since deactivated her Facebook account.

In and interview with FOX40 News Thursday, she said that what she posted was wrong. She also maintained that she is not a racist.

Since initially speaking with FOX40 Wednesday evening, the story has inspired a strong and emotional reaction from both sides of the issue.

“In America, we want to believe that we’ve healed the race issue. We haven’t touched it. So, we’ve got to do something about it,” Bishop Carthen told FOX40. “Unfortunately, we don’t like seeing it, we don’t want to hear about it but it still exists and we’ve got to be willing to confront it.”

Seller pulls website after racist anti-Obama sticker goes viral

This year's presidential race is already one of the most ugly and nasty in recent history. But a photo of a racist anti-Obama bumper sticker that has gone viral across social media, ranks as one of the lowest of many low moments. The sticker reads "Don't Re-Nig in 2012" in large white script, with "Stop Repeat Offenders. Don't reelect Obama!" in smaller script below. The sticker originated from a site called Stumpy's Stickers, which has since shut down and which also sold several other racist and anti-Obama-themed stickers, including one with hooded Ku Klux Klan figures bearing the phrase "The Original Boyz N The Hood."

GOP's Latino Jam: 'Angry White Guys'

Amnesty offer could split GOP in two: Patrik Jonsson

Republicans have a serious Latino-voter problem, and fixing it could spark a painful public debate that wrenches the party in two, writes Patrik Jonsson at the Christian Science Monitor. Latinos played a big role in reelecting President Obama, comprising 10% of voters and backing him by 71%. But if the Republicans embrace that bloc by granting amnesty to more than 10 million illegal immigrants, then middle-class, conservative whites are going to freak, Jonsson writes.

The move would contradict decades of anti-immigration policy and fly in the face of working-class anger over perceived "handouts" to illegal immigrants. Nonetheless, conservatives like Sean Hannity and Charles Krauthammer are testing the waters by supporting the notion of amnesty with a secured border. For now, Latinos remain suspicious of the GOP's attitudes, writes Jonsson—especially after conservative legislatures in the south and west waged such vocal battles against illegal immigrants.

All of this is beyond me! I can’t believe all of this shit! I know people can be dumb and narrow minded, but the stickers! my God!
Have you seen what Robert Louis has posted on another thread, Natina, on a speech given by Pat Robertson? And listen to what Bill O’Reily had to say about Obama’s re-election. With such public figures, I guess we shouldn’t be surprised of such idiocy…

Is he the guy who thinks that feminiam is a political movement which encourages women to kill their children, practice withcraft and become lesbians?

Sounds a nice guy.

One outcome of Obama's election in 2008 and again last week appears to be that racism has come out into the open again. Yes, you can't legislate a deep-seated prejudice out of existence, but you can create legal checks and balances which make public utterances or published statements at the least unacceptable and at the most subject to legal sanction.

So, racism underground or out in the open? That seems to be the choice. But there's very little doubt in my mind that Barack Obama in the role of president has attracted, whether overtly or in code - the birther theory, "he's a muslim" etc - the full range of white racist fury in a way that probably hasn't been apparent since the 1960s and the battle for civil rights. And too many in the GOP either silently or openly condone it.

There's trouble ahead.

No trouble ahead. This shit doesn't EVEN compare to what was going on in the '50s, '60s, '70s (during forced integration of schools), & the 100+ years of klan dominance in the south. My choice is "out in the open". Come one & all you morons. Tell us all about why we should be hating the negro in the White House. I'm glad the cockroaches are crawling out from under their rocks. It shows the country, & even the world, how far their numbers have dwindled, & how exponentially more stupid they continue to get.

The Ku Klux Klan History:

· The Ku Klux Klan (KKK) was a racist movement with a commitment to extreme violence to achieve its goals of racial segregation and white supremacy.
· The founders of the KKK were Confederate Civil War veterans Captain John C. Lester, Confederate General Nathaniel Bedford Forrest, Major James R. Crowe, John D. Kennedy, Calvin Jones, Richard R. Reed, and Frank O. McCord.
· The Klan was founded in 1866 and had more than 40 different Klan groups. It was organized in Pulaski, Tennessee and was later restructured in Nashville, Tennessee.
· The Klan was sometimes called the Invisible Empire of the South, the KKK, or the Klan. They dressed in robes and hoods designed to frighten superstitious victims and to prevent identification by Federal Troops.
· The Klan was high in criminal activity, ranging from hate crimes to acts of domestic terrorism. The Klansmen would whip and kill freed slaves in nighttime raids. The Klansmen drove blacks and their white sympathizers out of their communities, destroying their crops and burning their houses and barns.
· In the 1920s when its membership exceeded four million nationally, the Klan began to persecute Roman Catholics, Jews, foreigners, Communists, and organized labor.
· It was active in many states: Colorado, Oregon, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, Alabama, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey.
· In the 20’s, 15% of the nations eligible members belonged to the Klan (Ku). The second KKK preached more about racism, anti-Catholicism, nativism, and anti-Semitism.
· Existing more in the South and Midwest than anywhere else, the Klan’s membership exceeded 4 million at times, and in some areas consisted of up to 40% of the eligible male population

How to get in the KKK:
In 1868 the Ku Klux Klan drew up a series of questions for people who wanted to join its organization.
· Are you now, or have you ever been a member of the Radical Republican Party?
· Did you belong to the Federal Army during the late war, and fight against the South during the existence of the same?
· Are you opposed to Negro equality, both social and political?
· Are you in favor of a white man's government in this country?

Why to Join:
Leaflet circulated by the Ku Klux Klan in Mississippi in 1964.
Here are Twenty Reasons WHY you should, if qualified, join, aid and support the White Knights of the KU KLUX KLAN of Mississippi:
1. Because it is a Christian, fraternal and benevolent organization.
2. Because it is a democratic organization, governed by its members.
3. Because it is a democratic and just organization.
4. Because it is a working organization which not only talks but ACTS.
5. Because it is a very secret organization and no one will know that you are a member.
6. Because it is a legal organization and no one can be prosecuted for being a member.
7. Because it is a politically independent organization, and is not pledged to any political party.
8. Because it is a Pro-American organization that opposes any thing, person or organization that is Un-American.
9. Because it is an organization that is sworn to uphold the lawful Constitution of the United States of America.
10 Because it is composed of native-born, white, gentile and protestant American citizens who are sound of mind and of good moral character.
11. Because the goals of the KKK are the total segregation of the races and the total destruction of communism in all its forms.
12. Because the KKK has twice saved this nation from destruction as history clearly records.
13. Because there comes a time in the life of every man when he has to choose between the right or wrong side of life.
14. Because there are today many alien forces entering the United States of America bent upon its destruction.
15. Because it informs its members, and an informed citizen is a good citizen.
16. Because a Christian-like brotherhood among men must be revived in America.
17. Because on of the goals of the KKK is States' Rights and complete State Sovereignty.
18. Because neither the Conservatives nor the Liberals will save out nation, for patriots always save a nation.
19. Because it is clear now that if communism is to be defeated in America, it will be done in the South and primarily in Mississippi.
20. Because the KKK needs you today to help fight America's battles.

Birth of a Nation
By: D.W. Griffith
“Made in 1915, BIRTH OF A NATION was the first masterpiece of cinema, bringing to film the status accorded to the visual and performing arts. A story of the Civil War, BIRTH OF A NATION captured the violence, the spectacle, and the excitement of the war. Using extreme and dramatic camera angles and complexly interweaved edits, the film brought an event to life unlike any film had done before. The film, however beautiful, was a sad testament to the deep prejudice of the times and black audiences were outraged by the racist distortion of history. Viewed as a contributor to the rise of the Ku Klux Klan, the film caused riots in a number of black communities.”

I am a very old lady, lived over my three score years; born and reared in the Deep South. I am an admirer of the Ku-Klux Klan because my Father was one of the great many who cleansed our public offices of Negroes, carpetbaggers, and scalawags. . . . I have watched the Ku-Klux Klan in its ups and downs; I have also watched those who so bitterly hate this great organization; have found the haters alwayes had something in mind they wanted to keep covered up, but they know each time when the Klan rises their evils will be uncovered. . . . I can remember my Father saying the Ku-Klux Klan will never die. "It was here yesterday, today, and forever." And I firmly believe God has a working hand through this great organization, for if it wasn't for the Ku-Klux Klan in the Reconstruction Days, America would long have been a mongrelized nation. . . .. [W]hen you find a hater of the Ku-Klux Klan check his record; watch him; he is full of corruption; he has something in store for himself and not for others. . .

NATIVISM

Nativism reached its peak after the “Great War” ended (1918)
Influx of European refugees caused tensions between “natives” and foreigners
Many Americans wanted isolation wanting nothing to do with diplomatic connections or obligations
Many condemned “un-American” life styles
This idea caused great economic gain but African Americans, Catholics, Jews and other foreigners much strife

ANGLO SAXON

Term used for northern Europeans who formed the country. Often members of the KKK were Anglo Saxon. They were believed to be superior in every form. (Similar to the belief of Aryan race.) ~

RED SCARE (1919-1920)
RED-REFFERS TO COMMUNSIM

Started because of the Bolshevik Revolution in Russia
Patriotism fed into the Red Scare anyone who wasn’t “patriotic” enough was considered as bad as the “enemies”(Germans aka:huns, Communists)
Often targeted immigrants, German Americans, draft dodgers, anyone who expressed “un-American’ view points

Examples of the hysteria:

A Connecticut clothing man was put in jail for 6 months for saying the Lenin was a smart man
In Chicago a sailor shot a man for failure to rise during the nation anthem Washington Post response with approval

· “The Red Summer” Summer of 1919 38 mail bombs sent to prominent members of the government
· June 2 1920 bombs went off in eight cities including Washington DC were Palmers home was practically destroyed.
· December of 1919 Palmer’s agent sized 249 resident aliens these people were deported to the soviet union on the BUFORD

"If it had not been for these things, I might have lived out my life talking at street corners to scorning men. I might have died, unmarked, unknown, a failure. Now we are not a failure. This is our career and our triumph. Never in our full life could we hope to do such work for tolerance, for justice, for man's understanding of man as now we do by accident. Our words--our lives--our pains--nothing! The taking of our lives--lives of a good shoemaker and a poor fish-peddler--all! That last moment belongs to us--that agony is our triumph."- Bartolomeo Vanzetti

“I know the sentence will be between two classes, the oppressed class and the rich class, and there will be always collision between one and the other. We fraternize the people with the books, with the literature. You persecute the people, tyrannize them and kill them. We try the education of people always. You try to put a path between us and some other nationality that hates each other. That is why I am here today on this bench, for having been of the oppressed class. Well, you are the oppressor.”-Niccola Sacco

The white vote doesn't decide elections anymore. One can't simply appeal to white racial angst and expect to be victorious. Future presidential candidates will have to be able to communicate ideas to people of a variety of complex identities and not alienate any of them in the process through a visible hostility.
