I can put Franklin in touch with the VC firm next door to my office.

My fee is minimal and paid by the purchaser- I'll keep you in the loop.

Don't forget....Disney doesn't just get Star Wars, they also get Indiana Jones.

I know some people go cuckoo over the Star Wars series, but the question I ask myself here is “Why?” The last couple of films from the series were horrendous, no? Unless some good people out there wanted to spare us some more torture? Fat chance, I suppose…
As to Indiana Jones, the last one was even worse!

Seems like the marketing is already well on track!
(Robert Louis, they must have heard your thoughts! Look for Goofy as Chewbacca)

No they won't . Disney btw has not been Disney since the early 1980s . Disney owns a PORN Cable channel or 2 . Maybe we will finally get an R Rated Star Wars film or at least a PG13 .

As far as George Lucas goes, he is the Thomas Edison of Special Effects and has made a few good films . Personally he is a greedy and vindictive shit and un=fan=friendly . He totally Eff'd up Star Wars with episode 1 and beyond . Star Wars was way more than 3 films . It was a universe that had a story arc thru novelization and charactor biography . This was Canon and it was all authorized and approved by Georgie .

Now look ..... Anakin built C3P-O, was raised on Tatooine as a child slave, was the Step-Brother of Owen Lars, was a Pod Racer instead of a Star Pilot, was best buds with R2D2 .

To be honest I'm glad. People put crap on Disney but they put out quality stuff for the most part. Pixar & Marvel show that sub groups can be treated with respect and with Disney's backing can get sustained marketing pushes. Star Wars is actually a perfect fit. If it was a more adult orientated franchise I'd have some concerns but Disney has the right track record to handle Star Wars and make it work for both kids and their parents.

Obviously if they were to make films post set in a post Return of the Jedi world they could give people something they actually want rather than the last Trilogy which was giving them something they already knew the ending of.

Exactly. People thought Disney was going to destroy Marvel and so far they havn't changed much of anything. I don't expect anything to change with LucasFilms either.

Yes. If one word can get you punched, I suppose a spit would be worth a beating. Yet, the guy IS 82: wouldn’t it be like being repeatedly hit by a leave of grass agitated by the wind or something? I’d be afraid he’d hurt himself…

Yes, but on the good side. The Little Mermaid just got a whole lot more interesting.

Don't fuck with pensioners, they'll dogpack ya!

I was outside a supermarket one day, when one of the old bastards started complaining.

Someone had stumped a ciggie out on the handle of a basket (ok, not nice, but...)
This old git started complaining about it.
Dirty Bastard Smokers, filthy cunts...While staring at me, straight in the eyes, as i was lighting a smoke...

I said, "Shut up, you old bastard, if that's the worst thing that happens to you today, you're on a roll..."

All of a sudden, there was about 30 of 'em, berating me, one old cunt even took a swing with a brolly.

Death by pensioners?
I should coco, I got the fuck out of there!

But Hackman didn't punch anyone, he gave a tramp a slap that's all.

As for this 'franchise' it is in effect the film industry taking over the niche that was once occupied by comics, which means that just as there used to be a weekly edition of the Beano, the Dandy or Marvel comics, now you will get a new film every 18 months or 2 years, for as long as people want to see them, which means Star Wars, which was superficial drivel from the outset, can go on for years; same is true of James Bond and other 'franchise;' movies: the point is that the industry doesn't believe in change, if you can make a film for $50m and it grosses $150m there is no reason to stop. These films are to cinema what the Big Mac is to world cuisine, the key factor is repetition, familiarity, something safe. These films are not going to go away, one just hopes that independent voices will continue to find a market and make interesting films.

JPH, I always thought to myself that the Little Mermaid would make the exact type of fish soup I want to eat… ;)

LOL! My hunch, Jericho, is that it was some of these golden age Tuesdays or something. You know, this one day of the week when your cart is being hit every alley, when people stay on purpose in front of some food tray until you leave, and then leave themselves without taking any item, when people look furiously at you if you hesitate a second to cease passage, etc.? I stay home myself on these days. I lived for decades in the Eastern part of my city, with its pouches of sombre violence. Yet I’ve never been afraid as I am of these old geezers…
