Great photos Tara!! I read somewhere that you make your own outfits, they're really great looking, and I admire your DIY ethic. What happens to them after the shoot? Do you keep all of them, given them away or sell them, or do you recycle the materials. Just wondering how much studio space all that stuff takes up.

The stuff takes up a bit of studio space, and i tend to re-use outfits for shoots (with little tweaks), ot they do in fact wear out. I also wear them at fetish clubs and events.

As far as doing a book for TASCHEN- someone should tell them that. I was under an impression they weren't into trannies. I've always wanted to take my cream de la creme of my pictures and make a full print bound magazine or hardcover book out of them, but costs have always gotten in the way.

Anyone who has any pull with publishers, let me know!

Generally, you need an agent to represent you to publishers. Most literary agents in the US are located in and around NYC, which is where the US publishing biz is also generally located. An agent will know how to make contact with both domestic and foreign publishers and try to sell them the book.

It requires some work but if you can make up a proposal/treatment for a book, that will help in locating an agent and, subsequently, a publisher. But a small, open access version of your website can also serve this need.

I wish I could help in locating possible agents, but I've never been involved at that level, only as an editor. It's kind of a longshot but attending the annual Book Expo America (http://www.bookexpoamerica.com/Home/) (BEA) might prove fruitful since both agents and publishers also attend. Its like going to a Star Trek convention for publishing (without the costumes). Taaschen had a large booth at one I attended many years ago. Its a good way to learn how the publishing biz works.

Well, i have design and some publishing experience, and seeing as this would be a photo book, the amount of production work is more pictures than text (though I imagine there would be a bit of text about me in the beginning , probably in like 4 languages knowing Taschen), so production costs would really be like next to nothing. I now enough about how to output things for layout.

I did get a reply to their email and they gave me some submission hints, though they are like wanting only 5 photos. Oh, how in the world to sum up my career in just 5 photos!!!?!?!

I'm really tired of the "you're fine just the way you are", especially when my pictures have been carefully selected and there's even a teensy weensy bit of photoshop involved in making them more like the proportions I want.

I know that's tantamount to admitting that I'm fraudulent, but I'm just trying to be truthful in saying that I know what my body wants, and what will look good on me. I know what and where I want things tweaked, and in most cases the tweaks I want, I have been "faking" for years with everything from copious amounts of bra padding to makeup and tape and using some tried and true drag queen methods.

So please, STOP saying "you love me the way I am", when you're seeing a very carefully controlled image of what I am.

Or let me put it another way. A while ago when I expressed interest in getting some FFS work done, there was quite a furore about it. And then I had to come out and say:


Look, it's like this. What if I told you I was going in for surgery to get a thumb removed. OH MY GOD, why would anyone do that? And then maybe just maybe it turns out I had two thumbs on one hand, but I had concealed that fact for years and had photoshopped out that third thumb? But then, now I had to admit to the world I had three thumbs? Oh my god, career suicide!!!

Now, I know it's not quite as bad as that, but in the end, I'm the person who has to wake up every morning and look at myself in the mirror. I know what I want done,and where I want it done, and exactly how. Hell, give me the scalpel and I'll make the cuts and sew myself up. Damn. I left my copy of "Perform Plastic Surgery on Yourself" at home.

And it's not some ongoing thing, although some of it is quite literally to make up for some lost time. I never got to be a 16 year old girl. Though I doubt any plastic surgery would make me look 16, if there was some that could, you get your ass I'd get it done. And no, I don't want to take things TOO FAR, as I know some girls have done. I won't mention any names but I can think of a few who had some face work done and they looked perfect - with beauty and personality, and then went in and had more work done and then turned out looking very pretty but without any distinction.

I won't be going that route.

I donlt know if that's going to happen (the boobs). I raised half of the 6500 I needed for the implant job, based on the prices listed on their website. But when I finally got into consultation, nope, it turns out a breast job when youve already have breast implants, that's a "revision" and that's $10,000.

So yeah, being 6500 short is a lot worse than 3000 short. The only thing I can do is put the money in the bank and shop around a bit more, but I really wanted that particular surgeon because he was one of the top two nown for doing good bigger breast augmentations.
