i was not shocked or grossed out at all...its a bit on par with the Saw movies but a bit more graphic really.

what sucks the most is that in an attempt to be gory and artsy at the same time...with the fast edits and large amounts of blood everywhere, they lose the gore...its actually just stupid because they had a chance to make something intense, but they ended up with a clusterfuck

I agree. I could see what they were going for and the idea had potential, but the whole video would have been much more believable with a few chroma keying effects, a skilled camera man, and a director/producer who didn't have horrible ADHD.

You obviously don't understand metal music or metal culture.
A lot of it is about expressing violence and hate in song so as to avoid expressing it in real life. It's an outlet both for the artist, and for their fans. Sometimes the best way to relieve stress is to wallow in it, then realize things aren't nearly as bad as they could be.

For others, metal is all about the song structure and the amount of skill involved and not at all about the lyrics. For instance, I'd listen to a song about sodomizing stone-cold dead puppies so long as it were technically up-to-par with contributions from some of my favorite metal bands. That doesn't mean I'd ever consider raping puppies or that I even appreciate the subject.

The only time I pay attention to lyrics in metal is when I want a good chuckle.

I can sort of answer you, though. I had a few friends in high school who fell into that category. Most of them had extremely limited emotional response. They were either happy, content, or mad and so many of the other emotions sort of just equated to mad. You could end the story there, call them all "fucked in the head" and write them off, but I never knew a metal fan like that who was just crazy for no explainable reason. Most of them grew up in horrible homes with child abuse, drug abuse, neglect, poverty, and a myriad of parental issues. I could claim the same kind of upbringing, but everybody has a different limit to their sanity. For instance, I'm bat-shit crazy. I'm Ronald Reagan and I'm going to the moon.
