Viewing her vagina, makes me think of my own vagina, the appearance of the labia majora, and then right down to the relatively miniscule scarring on the outer regions of her vagina.

As a woman of color, I am always very concerned with scarring when undergoing any procedure, and I share these concerns with my surgeons.

In the case of my GRS, I have minimal scarring. What scarring I do have, I have applied Hydroquinone cream 4% (prescribed dosage), cocoa butter, and Premarin cream internally. This combined with the skin re-generating as I have aged has made the scar fairly neglible. Also at the scar points, I do allow my pubic hair to cover it somewhat, though my pubic hair is fairly sparse as I tend not to grow much hair overall. Occasionally I will shave the region, but for the most part I leave it lightly covered.

Another interesting point about Nicki, is pre op she seemed to have a fairly large penis, from which to construct her vagina. For me, due to the fact that I had an orchiectomy, and didn't use my penis much, it caused my penis to shrink somewhat in size, thus we had to perform some grafting to give me adequate depth. With Nicki, I tend to think she was fine to just have the penile inversion techniques, as opposed to needing any grafting, or even the more invasive sigmoid colon technique.

The sigmoid colon technique, involves using a piece of your colon to increase the depth of the neo-vagina. There are a few advantages to that, one is the vagina will be self lubricating, along with the increased depth.

However disadvantages are:

1. It is a more invasive surgery.

2. As a part of the colon is used, there are anecdotal accounts of the vagina, not always smelling fresh, though this may be impacted by personal hygiene.

3. The vagina tends to be constantly lubricating, and some woman may need to wear a tampon, to absorb the moisture.

I never noticed any smell difference or any smell at all beyond the typical combo of skin, soap and water, etc.
