I'm a Red through and through. I love Liverpool FC, in good times and bad. And I hate the Blues! But I really hate to say it, I think the Everton chant for their own Tim Howard and his touretts syndrome is probably the funniest I've heard.

"Tim Timery Tim Timery Tim Tim Teroo
We've got Tim Howard
and he says fuck you!"

So, I wondered what the other football fans on here think is the best fan chant?

Fly Eagles Fly, On The Road To Victory.
Fight Eagles Fight, Score A Touchdown 1-2-3.
Hit 'Em Low.
Hit 'Em High.
And Watch Our Eagles Fly.
Fly Eagles Fly, On The Road To Victory.
E-A-G-L-E-S, EAGLES!!!

for the benefit of our american friends, 'fanny' is the front bottom not the back bottom in this context

"One Night in Gay Paris
I Paid Five Francs to See
A Big Fat Moncheree
Tatooed from Head to Knee
And Underneath her Jaw
A Spanish Man O' War
And on her Back was a Union Jack so I paid Five Francs More....

Too see her lil' White Bum
Tatooed with the Rising Sun
And underneath her Fanny
Was Al Jolson singing Mammy "

I'm afraid I might need a UK Anatomy textbook for this one.

"When you walk through a storm hold your head up high
And don’t be afraid of the dark.
At the end of a storm is a golden sky
And the sweet silver song of a lark.
Walk on through the wind,
Walk on through the rain,
Tho’ your dreams be tossed and blown.
Walk on, walk on with hope in your heart
And you’ll never walk alone,
You’ll never, ever walk alone.
Walk on, walk on with hope in your heart
And you’ll never walk alone,
You’ll never, ever walk alone."

That one is pretty hard to beat indeed!

The best I've ever heard was when I lived in Amsterdam and went to a Champions League match between Ajax and Dortmund.

There's been huge antipathy between Dutch and German fans since the second world war, where the Nazi occupation was harsh, especially during the winter of 1944-1945. Oil froze in trucks and the Dutch were reduced to eating tulip bulbs to avoid starvation. Then, when they retreated in the face of the allied advance, the Germans commandeered all the bicycles to get back across the Rhine. If you've ever lived in the Netherlands, you'll understand that the average Dutchman's emotional attachment to his bike far surpasses anything that he would ever express for a mere woman. This has never been forgotten or forgiven.

So within five minutes of the start of the match, the Ajax fans unfurled several giant banners, each of which read in perfect German, "You cunts stole all our bikes!", which was the chant for the rest of the night. I joined in, of course.

I figured the chant would give my allegiance away- MAN UTD, but from the States so my rivalry is globalized. All in fun though, that chant always stuck with me.

Now comes the inevitable avalanche of hate...

I think I have already confessed here to my belated discovery that I was in fact a Liverpool fan, at least as far a EPL loyalties go, in the season that Benitez' team ran Man U really close for the title. I really wanted them to win it that year, just as I do this season. Add the fact that my uncle played for them in the 60s and it becomes easier to understand.

He also played for Rangers, but my loyalties north of the border were never to the blue half of the city. Locally, I followed Partick Thistle, because they were the team closest to my home, but the blood loyalty, via my father, was to Dunfermline Athletic. If you want to understand the true meaning of fan loyalty, you need to be a Pars fan. Currently second in the third tier of Scottish football.

Then add the fact that Alex Ferguson definitely played his best football for Dunfermline in the 60s and you can see how it all gets a bit complicated.
