Not only do I hate the fake images to begin with but lately since someone showed me liquify in Photoshop, I now can't help but see it everywhere.

Yuck.

Give me life as it is or give me death!

Right you are. I never understood Playboy. Seems they put great effort into locating beauties only to make them look all fuzzy and blurry in the magazine like they used Barbara Walters' cameraman.

Not too many companies overdo it, but those that do are chumps. What really chaps my butthole is when the affiliates who run TGP sites alter your promo photos with the damned noise removal tool set to a billion... makes you look like you're made out of crayon wax. Gives a false representation of the product and pisses me off to no end.

I'm trying to find the pic I saw earlier today where they liquefied a TS to give her hips that I know damned well she doesn't have... since it distorted the wall paper behind her LOL

I don't have photoshop, so I had to go google a youtube version. It's really impressive to watch it done! I'm not worried so much about my body, but does it work on hands??? ;)

Photoshop can produce such clever results now that I believe photographs are no longer admissible as evidence in court cases because of the way they can be tweaked. It is an amazing tool but is used way too much. In the hands of a poor operator can make a good looking girl look like a clown.

Thanks, but you remember talking about things ending up on the cutting room floor?

I've just looked. I (rather unsurprisingly) only have photo where my hands are visible, and believe me, the hands are the tip of the iceberg in sorting that photo out. :)

YES!!! I can't say I hate fake images. I'm a photoshop artist after all. I just think most photo "touch-up" artists go WAY overboard.
http://blueblots.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/04/5-skin-airbrush-technique.jpg

Slight imperfection is the goal. After a correct image touch-up, pores and skin texture should still be visible. There shouldn't be any area of the skin that looks blurred. Problem is, most photoshop artists don't really know how to achieve that and try to correct everything so as not to make a portion of the image stand out.

It's not "liquify", though. Some artists literally use the blur or smudge tools. Some make feathered selections and run blur filters. I like to use the patch tool to get rid of acne, black heads, and patches of skin discoloration, separate the image into two duplicate layers, apply a moderate gaussian blur to the lower layer, add just enough image noise to make the skin detail pop and get rid of the fake, plastic, blurred look, then apply a layer mask to the foreground layer and "paint out" problematic areas.

I'm not saying MY way is the correct way, but it doesn't produce obvious fakes. I've tried offering my help to a few of the girls around here made victim by bad photoshop artists, but it doesn't go over too well. Some of them actually like that fake-ass look and while they agree that my results don't look "photoshopped", most of them have stuck with the fakeness.

You should let me touch up a pic or two just for shits and giggles sometime.

Pick one out on my tour and knock yourself out. The only thing I ever do to them is color correct if its needed.

Heheh hehe he... that's horrible. You did that on purpose just to prove a point, but I totally see what you mean about that liquify filter. I didn't know anybody actually used that shit anymore.

Yep - I saw a set earlier today of a model I met before in person and said... so doesn't have those kind of hips...

I just put so much light on my face, all perfections are bleached out. That's how I get the natural look. No makeup, just light. - (Except lipstick, which doesn't count...)

Photos were admitted as evidence in the trial I sat on last December.

I agree completely. Photoshop shouldn't be used for making people look better or faking a person's sexual orientation. It should be used for making famous people look silly.

Well, this is just a really stupid quick example. I hardly ever do body contouring because it's essentially lying or a misrepresentation, and that's no bueno.

Not much changed. I only got rid of some of the skin discolorization, blotchyness, jpeg artifacting, and played with some of the sharpness and color settings. The pic didn't need a whole lot.

Fake?

Nope it is an enhancement which the eyes of love - or sexual passion - would do anyway in reality I think.

Properly applied, Photoshop is no more fake than makeup is fake. Yeah, technically they're both covering up perceived defects of nature, but a little goes a long way.

One problem is the "we can fix it in Photoshop" approach to photography: photos should be properly exposed, with good lighting, of models who are made up just enough for the camera and lights. "Correcting" afterwards in Photoshop not only distorts the original, but even if very well done, takes excessive time. That's fine if you're working on a half-dozen photos, but on sets of 180 photos, even one minute per photo (which is NOT going to yield ideal results) will add 3 hours to the workflow.

Key lighting, side lighting, just enough makeup to cover up problem areas and prevent problems like glare on oily skin, these are the important things. Then, if you have to make adjustments afterwards, they will be minimalized.

That's great, honest work! Not only does it not look fake, it isn't. Just a few touches. Beautiful, I love it!
