I'm born here but people take me from places like Nebraska all the time. This goes out to everyone: New Yorkers, Bostonians , Southerners, Texans/Okies, upper-Midwest folks, and all people from other countries. Do we sound funny out here? I don't talk no Valley crap.

If you had an accent, I guess it would be quite indiscernible because of the Hollywood movies we all watch, no? This accent would come out on the screen, considering how many actors come from, or live in, L.A. We would be so used hearing it, it wouldn’t sound like an accent anymore? Though I must say I’m certainly not an expert in English accents, and I have a hard time with some of them, like the strong Australian accent.
Am I making any sense?
As to you personally, Dino, I don’t know: you like country music so much, haven’t you been influenced in your personal lingo by the southern-western accent? :) You also said that you like Mexican food a lot: do you speak Spanish? can that have an influence on the way you talk?

LA is so international that the sound of the place constantly changes. I fight like Hell not to sound like most of my newer neighbors. Persians. "Hey buddy!" Hello my frrrrrrrriend!"

Not a Westwood Persian. Probably a Sherman Oaks one.

I lived there for a few years....and no you can't detect an accent so as to allow others to conclude where you're from. There are a lot of other tell tale signs, but not the accent. lol

What do you have in mind, Onmyknees? the style? the fact that they eat avocados in the salad? or sometimes even pineapples? :)

You have much of a NY accent?

I miss it. They tried to put on Wanda Sykes in it's place. Crapola. The worst era of Mad TV was better than that.
