So, I'm having yet another discussion on Fetlife and this person said to me,

"Krissy I'm sure the biggest consumer of trans pornography is "Cis-Men." Ignorant ass cis men at that. I go into a chatroom and I usually see someone saying their looking for a "L&dyboy and or Sh%m&le."

So, I wrote back a tongue-in-cheek response,

"Absolutely not. The biggest consumer of Trans porn is indisputably men. What are you basing your statement on? Ask ANY TS porn producer out there who is the largest consumer of their porn and 'straight men' is the overwhelming answer that you'll receive."

I was then accused of not knowing what 'cis' referred to, which I did, but was making the point that this is NOT a term that your average porn consumer uses so it is stupid to bring a term that is largely academic into the discussion.

So, I'm just curious about percentages of people who identify themselves as 'Cis'.

in prefix, cis the latin opposite of trans. It means that the gender you live as was the one assigned to you at birth. Basically, the majority of people in the world.

I know what is referred to when used on a woman, but I must admit I was perplexed about a use on a man. It’s a bit of a prejudice, I suppose, but it just left me wandering if I really knew the meaning of the term. I think such perplexity could explain these numbers, Loren.
I tend to agree with Krissy: I can’t find how it would be useful to apply the term to men as consumers of porn, for the very least. For women on such a forum, it’s different; but for guys, I just can’t imagine why we would. Then again, I just might be too square to get in the subtlety of the question. Enlighten me anyone if I’m not.

Oh, this is delicious, and more skewed than I actually projected in my argument.

I would like to reach 100 respondents in the poll so if you're a guy and haven't voted yet, please do :)

Thanks!

"Krissy I'm sure the biggest consumer of trans pornography is "Cis-Men."

If you identify as a "Cis-Man," does that make you a Cissy? :joke:

Seriously though, he's right: if one is looking academically at porn consumers, yes, the majority of consumers drawn to "shemal" or "ladyboy" porn are Cis-men; however, as you point out Krissy, from the perspective of those consumers, the term is useless since most of them have never even heard the term. That doesn't mean they aren't Cis-men, only that they do not knowingly identify as such.

I am surprised by the percentage of HA members who don't know the term, though maybe I shouldn't be so surprised. As seanchai says, it's another stupid label, and as Gia Darling once said many years ago, "Labels are for luggage."

Fot the very first time I may be with the majority ( and I don't like it !) but I've never heard that term, therefore haven't a clue of it's meaning.

I actually projected that MAYBE 5% of your average TS porn consumer or even more generally speaking, guy, would know what the term refers to.

Anyway, she actually conceded the point I was making without me having to use this little poll but thanks to all the guys who voted. I appreciate it :)

I just started hearing the term in Queer porn, they say cis-women or cis-men because they have a lot of sex with ftm and mtf. It was all new to me! I just thought men were men, women were women and trans-women and trans-men. lol No Cis
