An unidentified New York City official shut down a condom and sex toy company’s giveaway on Wednesday that planned to distribute 10,000 free vibrators in Manhattan, according to the New York Post (http://www.nypost.com/p/news/local/manhattan/city_kos_good_vibrations_Rtc8Up7hrIGqlC63E3J1fK?ut m_medium=rss&utm_content=Manhattan).
Trojan distributed more than 400 vibrators in two hours from two “Pleasure carts” before a city official who refused to identify himself to press shut the giveaway down. More than 300 men and women were reportedly waiting in line for a free vibrator.
“I’m 57 years old. I should be able to get a vibrator!” Linda Postell shouted as the event shut down 40 minutes later.
The Trojan Tri-Phoria (http://www.trojanvibrations.com/vibrators/tri-phoria-vibrator), which normally retails for $39.99, and the Trojan Pulse (http://www.trojanvibrations.com/vibrators/pulse-vibrator), which retails for $29.99, were two of the vibrators distributed from the “Pleasure Carts.”
Mayor Bloomberg’s office later cited permit issues for shutting down the event and said crowds “impeded pedestrian and street traffic.”
“Bloomberg doesn’t want anyone to have fun. You can’t have a giant soda. You can’t have a vibrator,” Park Slope bar owner Melody Henry told the Post.

I was just asking a friend yesterday when this idiots time is ending, since he bought his third term seems like it's never gonna end. As long as there's a qualified Dem to take his place, this city will be a better place.

Fact: giveaway distribution created a dangerous public safety issue for tourist traffic and those getting to and from their employment.

Yea make fun of Bloomberg, but he's just doing his job.

He's a douchbag, but he can manage the cities finances. He should be seen but not heard. He's become a national laughingstock and the subject of late night comedians. If he could figure out a way to do it, he'd be inside your head, and inside your trousers with monitoring devices and cameras.

Sounds like you are describing a crowd.
Is that something unusual in NYC?

Me-Thinks this could have been controlled to reduce those (subjective) issues in many ways rather than simply "Shut it Down"

"Hey, you are clogging up foot traffic, move it along to someplace else or give it a rest for a couple hours"

that's exactly what happened. The company was permitted to resume the promotional giveaway within 24 hours when the Mayor's office was more prepared for crowd control and pedestrian safety issue
