I started a photography thread yesterday...

Now who here can draw?

I just drew this. I dunno why. (don't worry, I'm not goin' furry on yall... the geometry in an anthropomorphic face is just more satisfying to draw.)

Lovely colours on that: what programme did you use? Was this drawn directly with a tablet or scanned in?

I can draw and only have a basic understanding of colouring digitally so I am very impressed by this :)

I scan in a pencil drawing then arduously vector trace each and every line by hand... color, shading effects, etc. all done in Photoshop cs6. This one took about 12 hours all together.

Here's the original... you can see where I dumped a Dr. Pepper on it while reaching for something...

Nice expression on the face. Total defeat with hardly an ounce of resistance remaining in the eyes.

Ah, vectors, never got around to them but that explains the crispness of the linework...I've never taken to paint so my colour theory's pretty poor as a result because I think in terms of line instead of tone and colour. As a result, I love "drawn" art such as comics and animation, though the lush watercoloured backgrounds in anime always blows me away (not a huge anime fan but love things like Studio Ghibli, The Girl Who Leaped Through Time, etc).

Anyway, what that means is I like drawings and I liked this :)

Maybe I should crack open my tablet tomorrow and do a quick experiment, see how it turns out...

Yep, I know what that's like: I haven't drawn anything since '93, after my Mother died.

Here's the old stuff:
I copied Brian Bolland's art and made a bigger version.

I used to draw a lot but was limited. I could never quite get proportions right for drawing people and most animals..so I basically ended up with really unrealistic (and bad) comic book style.
It was ok for a while as that was all I was drawing at the time. Now I really only do designs and abstract art when I pick up a pencil or pen. I stick to 3D mostly since I have much better control with it as far as making the picture in my head match what I want people to see.
