Here's a photo I took. A little light HDR treatment brings out some nice weary lines in my face. It was just supposed to be a test for some HDR settings, but I liked it so I made this out of it. Might hang it on my wall.

Here are a couple "point and shoot" hits and misses from my trip to the Alps.
Pic #1 is a scenic Swiss Valley.
Pic #2 is an early morning shot of the Matterhorn that was stunning live but a total flop on film. The Mountain had been fogged in the night before, but at dawn all this morning light came angled in over the glacier and poured an unearthly amount of light onto the face of the Matterhorn. For about 10 minutes, it went from incredible clarity, you could see every nook and cranny, to pure white, and then various shades of pink. It wasn't til the end I thought to grab my camera. I was so disappointed when the film came back. I trhink with a proper camera and some training I could have captured an unbelievable site....

Back from my annual hols on the Isle of Arran. Usually array of wildlife (but didn't spot any sea otters ... :() and dramatic views.

There are no grey squirrels on Arran so our native red squirrels cope without the competition from the US immigrants.

darkrose2000, I love your Black n whites...makes for some incredibly interesting compositions. The clarity of some of them would almost be too much for my eyes if they were like that in color.
Some interesting experimentation there...like the one you took of little Venice - The detail is almost too powerful - if you were to look at it quickly, you almost couldn't make out what you are looking at because everything is equally sharp (including the reflection)...but again, it makes for an interesting composition if you take the time to really look at it.

Eerily beautiful.

Some of those shots would look awesome on the walls of a modern apartment...(as I'm sure many of em already are )

So I decided to import a pic or two into my iPad to play around with a few apps. To manipulate this particular image I used the Camera+ app (lighting, temperature, and a slight HDR effect), the Photoshop Express app (mainly to reduce noise), and the PicFrame app (border watermark). Hmm...

I had began taking photos on my film Minolta SLR to create an intimate film photography escort blog, however I've been super-lazy in getting my new rolls developed and I find Fuji-film to be really depressing. I may get back into it but I think I'll use Kodak Porta.

Gosh, I am sorry to say that I am in Florida now and it was midstate west shore (Port Charlotte), one of the many waterways were the water shots and, of course, this beautiful Florida sky which is remarkable in the color tones at sunset of which you can really only capture anything similar to it over Lake Erie on a summer sunset. Now I am in the panhandle off the Gulf Coast and about to get some shots from these white sand beaches in Pensacola. Well, at least they drummed up some fond memories for you... :-)
I spent many a boyhood years around and in the metroparks though, my dear departed grandparents had a home right at the entrance to them, next to the (now) nature preserve and buzzard lookout.
