London's National Portrait Gallery has just purchased what is thought to be the first painted portrait of a transvestite. Passable?

That seems to be some sort of later portrait. As usual, with no testosterone blockers or estrogen, a human body inevitably gets rather masculine over time. Chevalier d'Eon looked to be quite a bit more passable earlier on...

They thought it was a woman or a long time until it got restored. When the grime came off they saw the 5 o'clock shadow.
