Went to see the opera version in London a few years ago with my goddaughter. The theatre was full of kids, and while the music was fairly challenging, they loved it.

The book is wonderful - the film was lousy. Didn't see the opera.

It was later after reading this thread that i read that Sendak had died. RIP. Great and original writer of children's books.
