was thinking of the Kawasaki Ninja 600cc, 250cc
or the Honda CBR250, CBR600cc

Any of the guys in here has any of these that can tell me which they recommends?

600's are very forgiving. also have enough power to get yourself out of trouble when it happens. 250's are fine for putting around but terrible if you ever have to do freeway driving.

I rode a Honda CBR600 for 5 years before getting my super moto

i had a Suzuki DRZ 400 for about 6 months and sold it because I didn't like the power band it had. it just didn't pull very well.

I traded it almost straight up to a friend for his yamaha wr450f and its a way better bike IMO

why do you want a motorcycle? If you're buying one to save money or because it's convenient then forget it. If you want one because you love to ride then go for it. When it rains you get wet, when it's cold you get cold, when it's hot you're hot and people try to kill you every day. BUT, there is no other feeling like jumping on and rolling out. I'd say get a 600. 250 is gonna be to small. Unless you can get a really cheap 250 to learn to ride for a couple of months. I could see you on a chopper though. I learned to ride on a full size Harley. Take the motorcycle safety course. It's great.

No comment on sport bikes.
If you'd consider cruisers, I got a Suzuki Boulevard S40 last month. A nice, lightweight cruiser (350lbs), plenty of pull (single cylinder 650cc), not very expensive (2012 models retailing for around $5,400).

I have been riding 40 years and still think it's dangerous

Bike for just the summer? Depreciation, insurance, drivers license test, resale, sounds like a headache. If you want to make use of all that desert, maybe a dirt bike? Hondas run like a watch, but a bike with a primary chain is more fun. If you're going to ride only in the city, you'll probably want a smaller bike.

Harley's are boring. if i wanted to sit on a couch i would just stay home. at least then i can sit in my living room and watch Moto GP;)

Hi, I have been riding for 6 years and have a Suzuki Katana 600. 600's are great for beginners because they aren't too powerful but still very fun to ride and enjoy the freedom of being on a motorcycle. My good friend Amber and I go out on the bike almost every time the weather permits. I kind of wanted to get a bigger sports bike, but I think my next bike will be a cruiser but will still be a Suzuki, I'm stuck on the brand.

I agree, 250 is too small. I also took the MSF course (Motorcycle Safety Foundation) it was $99 and 3 days and I've never had an accident or dropped my bike. The best and most comprehensive way to learn how to ride a motorcycle safely. They let you bring your own bike if you have one already or you can use their bikes, which are usually 250cc

You're right Remy. MSF course is the best money spent. I used their bike so that if it went down my new bike didn't get jacked up. and the 250's are so easy to take the test on. They even teach you how to get on the bike, how to check it for pre-ride safety and what the parts are. It usually gives you an insurance discount. You get to have AmberSkyi on the back of your bike? Lucky you.

If it's just for the summer, you may want to consider renting a Harley. Either way...make it a Harley!!!
