Russia developing a gun that turns people into zombies (seriously)

By Tecca (http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/author/tecca/) | Today in Tech (http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/technology-blog/) – 6 hrs ago

Ever since the game Resident Evil and the movie 28 Days Later breathed new light into the zombie attack genre, America has been on something of an obsessive kick. We all played Plants vs. Zombies (http://www.tecca.com/columns/gaming-on-the-go-plants-vs-zombies-for-nintendo-ds/). We've designed exercise routines (http://www.tecca.com/columns/zombie-fitness/) to help keep us safe from the zombie apocalypse. There are even zombie attack bedsheets (http://www.tecca.com/news/2012/02/01/never-sleep-alone-bed-sheets-zombie-etsy/). Thankfully, though, a zombie attack is an impossibility. Or is it?
Russian President Vladmir Putin confirmed that his country is working on the creation of an electromagnetic gun that attacks its target's central nervous system, putting them in what we hope is a temporary, zombie-like state. According to Russian defense minister Anatoly Serdyukov, "when it was used for dispersing a crowd and it was focused on a man, his body temperature went up immediately as if he was thrown into a frying pan."
"We know very little about this weapon, and even special forces guys can hardly cope with it," added Serdyukov. That doesn't sound very comforting.
While this technology is certainly disturbing, thankfully, it's unlikely to be the cause of the inevitable zombie apocalypse. Victims of the gun don't — as far as we know — develop a taste for human brains. And since the zombie effect isn't viral, those dissidents won't be able to go around turning other people into the restless undead. Phew.

The west already has a weapon that has the same effect. It's called reality television.

Wow... talk about putting the wrong spin on an article. Zombie gun? Electromagnetic? They mean electromagnetic radiation; otherwise known as microwaves. Russia is building a microwave gun that slightly cooks it's victims and they're using it for crowd control. I just don't understand why they're calling it a zombie gun; not a Hot Pocket gun. That's more accurate.

I just twitted with my good friend Putin and he told me that the weapon will not be used unless they run out of GunPowder. I want to visit Moscow very soon and Sankt-Peterburg

Buy a used microwave and a car battery. You might have to set the microwave to "Potato" and hold it to your victim's head for six to eight minutes, though.

People, forget it ! Come to Russia, pass about 10 hours in front of Russian TV-screen and you'll also be a zombi - this is the fact. Or come and see the Moscow undeground lines in the morning. The Hollywood with theirs zombi/surrogate/androids movies can have a rest. You'll observe the well-regulated flow of zombies every morning and ... evening. No special "zombi arms" you need.

We (the US) has already tested something like this - some peeps thought that the heatwave wpn was too much and not a 'kind' weapon to use.

I've deployed before, my biggest thing is let us do what we do best - break things and kill people. That's the point of any military. Use the tools that you have and do the dew. Just saying...

Just to get ahead of things, yes, I said kill people. That's what the military was designed and intended to do. Make the bad guys hurt so bad that they do not want to fight anymore...

OK, enough of me talking... :)

If you really wanted to scare the shit out of our enemies, melt down all our weapons except for nuclear missles.

If you could pop a 30 round mag into a nuke you'd really have something.
