I'm an 18yo trans girl and I was kind of thinking of doing the whole porn thing, I feel like the money would help with college and transition, plus it seems like it could be a decent amount of fun, or at the very least a work I would somewhat enjoy.

What places should I really talk to, and who's kind of hiring/paying at this point?

Some of the girls and guys here might help - but be useful to know if you are in the UK or US (or elsewhere)

I Started with Grooby Productions and they have been great to work with. Go to http://grooby.com/models.html Grooby has debuted a lot of the big names in TS porn.

Um, what sort of photos should I send, do you think. It says a selection, but I'm not sure how it is, and I'm also not sure if I should try and do my hair + makeup first(iiiiiiii'm bad at thaaaaaaat) or what.

Just send a couple of head shots - a body shot and age and location.
Present yourself at your best.

Alright, sounds good. I'll probably need to pull together some clothes. I'm not full time yet so I have to make do and it's not the best. My clothes atm consist of like 6-7 pairs of underwear(bottom, from boyshorts to panties) and one or two t-shirts. It's not exactly a full wardrobe, but I guess that's something you build up. I have some makeup, so I should be able to put that together.

A couple other interesting questions:
1. How's the life and the money? I figure it's livable, and the life does not look uncomfortable. I know most people also do camming, or maybe escorting as well as porn, and I know a decent amount about camming and I plan on starting that soon. It doesn't look like a bad life, and I can see that a decent amount of people can afford things like various surgeries and clothing and whatnot, which makes it seem like it's not a bad life as a whole. Anyone have any input there? Also, like uh what do you do most of the time, and how much downtime do you tend to have as far as not working at all goes?

2. As far as shaving in the general crotch area and that sort of hair removal, any advice, as well as opinions on shaven/not? I see that pretty much everyone is shaven down there so I figure it's important, any advice on that sort of removal? I keep it trimmed but shaving around down there is like "I don't want this cock and balls that much but it's not like I want to hurt them, I need them intact!"

3. Glasses, y/n. I need them to see far away, but up close and to a short distance I'm fine, especially if I don't need details at any distance. The glasses I wear right now are pretty androgynous, although technically they are men's glasses. I believe they're these glasses : http://www.versace.com/thumbnails/eyewear_gallery_zoom/3c1d1ef97aeefceeb48238498850c715594948b3.jpg.jpg

4. Not a question but FYI you peeps are awesome, especially the other trans girls. <3

Based on what you are putting here I don't think you are quite ready yet. If you want to send me a photo or two that you have at admin@grooby.com I'll give you some more feedback. You stated you were going to college, so I'd concentrate on that first and foremost and a career in porn a distant second.

I said college more as a general goal, I mean, I'm not currently in college and I have no idea what I'd do in it. I meant mostly that I'd be able to toss some stuff into savings so if I did end up wanting college and knowing that then I'd be able to pay for it. Porn and the adult industry is definitely a field I'd like to work in, at least right now. Maybe I'll decide something else later on, but right now it combines my enjoyment of acting and dressing up with my interest in exhibitionism. As well, it's a way I can meet other interesting people, especially other trans girls, which is always nice. It's also a good incentive to look my best and practice myself. I'll send a couple pictures your way.

Marie,

If you're honestly looking to make money, it's a rare few who make serious cash in this business.

If you're looking to webcamming most girls make in the $30/hr range presuming they work at least 10 hours a week. You can make more, but its a small handful who make the most money when it comes to webcams.

focus on webcamming much more money ..

signup to 2 or 3 cam sites and just build a routine each day for camming shifts ... do like 3 shifts a day for say 3 hours each if your not working or doing other things ... you will make money ...

I have a genuine interest in doing it, it's just something I like to know about before I get in. It's kind of silly to look at it like that, I know, but I still have to make a living, and I just like being sure that what I'm interested in can do that, preferably well. I just like to know what the life and whatever is like, as far as the career/job goes, and how people enjoy it.

Honey, let me give you some big advice. Dont get in front of a cam and do porn till u are fully comfortable with who you are. I tell girls this all the time, I know people who later in their transition regret doing a photoshoot here or there. Its out there forever! You sound like you havent even got to where you can dress and learn the tricks. I suggest finding girls in your area to take you under their wings and teach you things. Then if in future you are comfortable with who you are inside and out then shoot porn. People might attack me on this but I think no girl your age should ever shoot for porn until they are comfortable in their own skin and more mature as a lady! But that is my opinion because not only have I done porn I also teach seminars at transgendered conventions! I waited later in life to do porn! Just an idea hun! Do webcam show, u make way more money and shoots can not come as much as you think! You need another job like camming to support a life.

I dunno, you haven't even shaved close enough to know whether or not you'd cut your genitals with a safety razor. (You won't, dick skin is pretty friggin' resilient - shave away) Simple things like that kind of tip off where you are coming from and it's nowhere near where you need to be to get into the business.

All the pictures and videos you've seen, all the blog posts and industry threads you've read have done their job effectively, they made you buy into the illusion... the amount of cash changing hands is nowhere near the amount you'd imagine on the talent end of the production line... you'll make enough every few months to get rent paid, maybe buy something nice for yourself and then, bam... months of nothing and then ...more nothing.

You will have to get a part time job, hook, offer a service to the industry that requires skill outside of looking sexy in front of the camera. We all have similar stories... I model, edit video, run my own site, escort and do graphic design and I still live in a little apartment with nothing more than a few thousand dollars in the bank. It's not a real job is what I'm saying... it's a glorified grift.

Only the most attractive models, the top 1% are the ones making the really big money. It's thrown at them in buckets but for a very limited period of time. If you are one of those people the best advice I can give before the gravy train starts a rollin' is to SAVE, SAVE, SAVE the money or you will wind up like your average lottery winner, broke and wondering just what the hell happened.

People who are cut out for this "job" are the ones who slam into backwards without looking, make a few mistakes and ask questions later all while steamrolling ahead on poverty's edge... it's not for the weak or faint of heart, it's for people who would rather do anything other than hold down a shitty day job that eats up all your time in trade for some semblance of stability.

If you're the type who plays by your own rules but has the wherewithal to cooperate and coexist with the right people, if you can network and keep your nose clean, if you're ambitious and unafraid... go for it. If you're looking to make a lot of easy money by having awesome, pretty sex with lots of beautiful people... welp, you're shit out of luck kid.

I guess I didn't completely think it out. I still kind of want to do it, but in addition to camming or something. I figured porn would also kind of help with the whole trans-support and activism thing because it might be possible to get some visibility like that. I don't know. Thanks for the responses, though.
