Honestly, there is nothing to be nervous about. I've been hitting the TS party scene for a little over two years and for the most part the environment is comfortable. There are parties almost every night of the week in NYC and you can always find something interesting at anyone of them. I personally enjoy the Tuesday and Thursday parties at Secret Lounge but I'm sure that you'd have fun anywhere. Good luck.
