What was so different about the scene in NYC then and now? And when exactly were the better times? I always get curious when I hear people talk about how NYC isn't the same so I just want to know what it was like before. I'm only in my mid-20's so I guess I must have missed out, but that's no reason for me to not be interested to hear the stories.

No place in New York - no place in the US - comes close to the old Edelweiss on 11th Ave and 43rd St.

Escuelita in Paris and Way Out Club in London come close, but they don't have the playrooms Edelweiss had.

Maybe just before Guiliani came in as mayor and civilized it. Maybe the first year or two after. NY was a bit of a pit and perhaps needed some cleaning up, but I think they took a bit too much of the edge off.

The streets used to be epic. You definitely know too. Even if you weren't out to pick-up the people/hooker watching was plenty entertaining. I miss the crap out of cruising around like that.

This is just my theory, no real data to back it up. When people talk about the good ole days, I'm thinking most of the girls were not full time transsexuals or were not on hormones. The times and those older clubs were probably pretty wild, but basically it was TV's and CD's that you would be fooling around with.

Now, more girls start their transitions/hormones at a younger age, that raging testosterone that used to be present in the club scene is no longer there. So basically, we have traded off some of the uninhibited sex scene for a more feminine, laid back scene.

So which would you prefer? No wrong answer, just a matter of preference.

The early to mid 90's in New York was awesome. Show World on one side of 8th Ave. Sally's on the other. And no they were not TV's and CD's. In San Francisco the late 80's and early 90's were wild. You had The Black Rose on Jones Street and The Motherlode just 4 blocks away.

Yeah I have to agree. I had plenty of fun there back in the 90s.

Nah, the girls I used to hang with were very feminine. Cross dressers never did anything for me.

I'm in my early 30's and the best part of the scene that I've scene were the super parties that were co-hosted by Allanah Starr and Sunny Dee Lite. When they had those monthly events there would be hundreds of beautiful TS women and hundreds of players trying to get some as well. As far as I'm concerned it was the height of the party scene and the talent pool was hot cuz.

In some ways the scene is better now, it's a little classier and less dangerous. The internet changed alot of what is going on. I think the girls are hotter now so that's all that matters to me

I've always known that New York and LA were the places for Sodom and Gommorah-type entertainment, but to hear about it kinda first hand really rubs salt in the wounds. In many ways I would rather hit clubs than hit escorts. When I say hit I mean visit.

I like all the eras I lived in cause I was there.

But I don't know about the 90's, I can't remember much of the 90's. Oh yea, I remember things like Bill Clinton and news stuff like that cause it's still here today on TV, I just can't remember myself in the 90's, much of my life in the 90's is all a blank to me.

There were about 20 minutes last Tuesday that really did it for me. It's been downhill ever since.
