so i just posted on reddit to a transgender community, and they seemed extremely sensitive to the terminology of transsexualism (which is fine).

(read their comments)
http://www.reddit.com/r/asktransgender/comments/q7vx2/dealing_with_physical_interaction_with_a_male/

i was wondering if you girls get really offended by the terminology used by board members and by the pron industry to describe yourselves.
dont get me wrong, i understand how the internet works, and how asking for all around politeness is about as stupid as asking for no war on earth...(and is why many online users have learned not to be affected by internet slander)

i also got the vibe that some automatically think that all straight guys dont know shit about being respectful to a transgender, or are insecure/too afraid to be honest with themselves. its as if some of them group us all in a stereotype on the terms that we stereotype.

yeah anyways, just a subject i was curious about...

Porn has used terms that have been potentially offensive to women for decades. It's the nature of the beast. But generally those terms don't cross over into day-to-day language because it's not the time or place to discuss things in terms of men's sexual fantasies. No one refers to a teenage girl as "barely legal" in the Girl Scouts. By the same token, if my doctor referred to me as a "shemale" or a "tranny", I'd be offended.

Here, however, I don't have those expectations of you gentlemen. You're potentially paying the admission fee into the fantasy world of the sex industry. Of course, as many of us know, many of you don't. Certainly not all, but 'many' of you are losers who are just here to download free jpgs, just as many of you don't make a donation to spend time with an escort. Sadly, those two demographics consist of sexually retarded losers who live in a self-created fantasy world. And if you're not paying for the privilege to enjoy the fantasy as it's intended to be presented to you, you're basically no better than a peeping tom and you're very much uninvited to refer to me as a "shemale".

Make sense?

I'm just saying, porn and escorting gives guys a level of familiarity and intimacy with us that you don't normally get, and quite frankly don't deserve, IRL. My family, friends, and BFs are not going to refer to me as a "shemale". My doctor would never call me a "tranny". lol And I think HA gives people the false impression that what flies in porn and escorting is automatic with TS women. It's not. If you dated me, you'd piss me off by referring to me as a "shemale". I'm also saying that you 'pay to play' in this world, and that's partially WHY we make it ok to objectify us to that extent. But just any doofus with an HA membership hasn't quite earned that. Don't get preoccupied with my peeping Tom analogy. It may not be a good one.

I don't know, it seems apt. APT!

Porn is voyeuristic- unless it is you in that film/pic it's a peep show. Add TS to the mix- something a large number of guys are into but fewer would ever act on- apt.
