I've got at least a couple of Fans on here so I thought post this...

Today I've just put the finishing touches on my very first iBook, and to celebrate, I'm making it available for everyone to download and view! I've formatted it into two formats, which should be readable across any device, although obviously, the native format (.iba) is going to display best (and can only be viewed) on the iPad devices. Anyway, I hope all you Krissy4u Fans will enjoy my first creation and I would absolutely LOVE to hear feedback about how it works for you. I've tested it pretty extensively so I think it should work just fine but let me know if I left anything out of the instructions on the page!

I'll be working on some other iBooks this weekend, which will be available for Members of Krissy4u - Naughty Asian Tgirl, so if you want to take Krissy on the go with you... come join me there!

The link to this page will be up one week and will be removed on February 4, 2012... so download your copy today!

PS... yes, I know there is a typo in the picture... It has already been corrected in the actual book :)

...and I just GOT my iPad!

What program did you use? I'd love to make one of these with some of the pictures I've taken over time...

Nice to see me in your library!

I used iBooks Author, which is the free app from Apple. Just make sure you read the terms and conditions of the software before you pour in a whole bunch of time... there has been a little kerfuffle over them. Doesn't matter if you're not planning on actually selling your books though.

I found iBooks Author to be somewhat limited but also very intuitive to use. If you're somewhat computer literate, you should be able to figure out the program in and have a book published in an day or so :)

PS... I thought the Apple Store was somewhat anti-porn...? Are there lots of girlie magazines there? I wasn't planning on actually trying to sell my books but maybe I will!

Thanks for sharing, Krissy. Having lived 25 yrs in Seattle, before moving last yr, I'd imagine the sweater dress season can be a little iffy in the PacNW. Very nice pics.

They are; I downloaded those mags as .pdf files and imported them via iTunes. The books (except for the ones by Mad Magazine) were purchased.

Also, I'm still a PC guy (for now)...even though I have an iPod, an iPhone, and now an iPad. Crossing over to the dark side I guess. I'll have to find a similar program then...:(

Have you tried Smashbooks? They do erotica and can push out to all the major publishing houses. The downside is you have to work everything out through Word and then check it with Adobe Digital Editions.

I just published something myself through Smashbooks (not erotica) and it was much easier than going through Amazon (KDP is a nightmare, NO way to contact them).

I would love to chat about the publishing process. This was a nightmare for some parts but looking to swap ideas on working the social media and sales angles as well.

I haven't tried Smashbooks... had not even heard of them before you mentioned. I tried to go through Amazon a while ago and hit several walls which made it almost impossible to do what I wanted to do. Thus far, I've found that iBooks is really, really easy and pretty versatile since you can render it into a PDF as well as the proprietary iBook format. Still, the major downside is that Apple pretty much controls your book if you want to sell it on the iBookstore... that really blows. But, if you're just using the format for promotional purposes as I intend, it is pretty nice... and free (assuming you have a Mac to work on).

I never knew of Smashbooks until I ran into problems attempting to publish on Amazon. Someone at an online ebook forum pointed me to them and honestly it was a breeze.

There were some problems on my end connecting the Chapters to the TOC because I did not use Chapters (something to think about for future work).

The real nice thing is they push your work out to all the major ebook retailers (sony, Nook, Apple, and Amazon) so once you get approved in the Premium Program it rolls out everywhere. In the meantime people can still download .pdf and other formats from the website.

That and you have more control over the end product. I love that they can push it out to the other major ebook retailers. To me that is the biggest selling point as an author, they can handle more of the back end work which is frustrating.

I would love to talk further about Apple and marketing. I am struggling to grasp the right marketing slant and would love to talk about different avenues.
