Anything out there you've been putting off buying that you're about ready to pounce on?

I have pretty much everything I want but I plan on picking up some Blu-rays and Video Games for cheap.

Any ladies out there putting yourselves on special too?

Just make sure you get a BPHDH for $40 instead of just some regularly priced $40 girl, Dino. You'd probably end up spending more at the doctor for treatment than you saved.

I may drive around looking for some drink specials before happy hour, but as far as stepping foot in any store or mall..............not gonna do it.

Asian prostitutes many times play the "It's Christmas!" game sometimes trying to charge more. I'm the Christian so I should get the discount and Buddha can reimburse her.

I knew someone would take it literally. Every year I go to Best Buy and the blacks scratch their heads wondering how I'm eligible for all those great bargains too.

I am interested in that 65 inch Toshiba 1080p LCD 120hz hdtv Walmart will have on Black Friday for 999.99. I have a 47inch 3D LG LED HDTV right now in the living room but want a bigger TV. I enjoy watching sports and movies and that size TV would look awesome in my living room. The good thing is that it is an online special Friday. So I will order it early Friday morning.

Eye rolling is more like it. Let's go out and spend of money on things for other people that they don't need and won't appreciate because it's just what everyone else is doing.

Actually, today "Black Friday" is the second day of York's Christmas market, St Nicholas Fayre, when the ancient streets in the centre are taken over by market stalls, musicians, street theatre and fun. Enjoyed it so much last night that I'm going again today.

Hope that you all enjoy it too, but don't waste it queuing in awe of the gods of consumerism.

Two Black Friday WalMart brawls of 2013.

The first one is in Elkin, North Carolina. Watch the guy in orange in the center of the screen starting at 0:05 as he wrestles a customer on the floor for an HDTV. At 0:45, the cameraman was told to stop filming and leave.

The second one location unknown. At first people fighting over HDTVs. Then at 0:38, a fight between two women break out, police step in and arrest one of them, wrestling her to the ground.

Weird, there's no reason for it. Presume it's because Asda is the UK subsidiary of Walmart. Still, at least no one's waving guns. Yet.....

My point is that the Black Friday phenomenon in the UK is so far largely restricted to US-based or owned retailers and not a general thing.

Plus it's not unusual for Black Friday in the US to involve the use or the threat of use of firearms, thankfully something that's the remotest of possibilities in the UK.

And the view from up here is just wonderful, thanks.

It's very rational -- :)
Actually, in order for markets to work, well, you need informed consumers making rational choices.
As we can see: informed consumers making RATIONAL choices -- :)

You're being deliberately obtuse if you believe that it occurs mainly in lily white non-Anglican companies. We all know about your unrelenting and irrational hatred of the US. It's always seething there right below your well practiced and congenial facade. It also reeks of extreme nationalism and the drumbeat of anti-immigrant rhetoric pervasive in that tiny spittle of an island you got over there.

Yes, I'm sure your distorted view of the world is quite lovely up there, mainly because the lack of oxygen has destroyed the majority of your brain cells like all the other chavs and soccer hooligans over there. Yes, I know you hate that too.

So good day, you pompous prat. Say hello to all the other trolls in my ignore file. I never should taken you out of there in the first place ...

OK, you dumb fuck, I bit.

Fuck, when it comes to jumping to conclusions without evidence, you're in the olympic class. Unrelenting and irrational hatred of the US? I'll criticise the US, the UK, any country for those aspects of its culture that do harm, but that's about it. And how dare you accuse me of racism.

At least we're both in one another's ignore files now. Piss off and die.
