It's a good question.
For us it was getting a one-word domain name that was relevant exactly to what we do. The advantages we hope to get from it are whether google ranks the .xxx tld with more weight for adult sites than non-.xxx and any residual marketing that comes from the .xxx domain. It's not essential to our business plan for this site though and we'll see how it plays out.
