I have heard that all the vampire silliness of the past few years sprang from the practice of superhip rich Europeans going to clinics that specialize in complete blood transfusions, ala Keith Richards and William Burroughs. They use a dialysis machine. The overwhelming choice of "product" is the blood of teen black males which is plentiful, universially compatable (type O) and cheap. More expensive choces are from athletes, pregnant women, pubescent teen girls, etc..
The results are desribed as "profound"
This fad has faded out of popularity because the attention it drew scared off the reputable clinics.
