Rescued a cat from my back yard that was broken apart, rail thin, and with cancer covering half of his face. Took him in the house, he put some weight on, and now he thinks he owns the place. He runs around the house with his tail in the air with what looks like a tree branch sticking out of the side of his head. He's too small and weak for surgery but doesn't seem to be getting any worse. Every day for him is one more day. He should've been dead long ago.

We rescued a cat that was in horrible shape. it was left to fend for itself, it is a long hair and its fur was completely matted and it smelled god-awful. took it to the vet and had it anesthetized and shaved, bathed etc. 4 months later, hes the center of our home. had 2 pugs as well, one died tuesday, she was 15-1/2. I hope you take my post above as the silly nonsense it was meant to be. I'm a huge animal lover.

Not my exact dog but pretty much a Xerox copy. Got 13 years out of that Akita. Mine was a 125 lb beast. He didn't bark much but had an icy stare like Charlie Bronson.

My guy was always made fun of by the neighbors for his vulgar display of his bits and pieces. I didn't have the heart to neuter him. I just kept him away from girls. Made him more territorial. Neighbor couldn't fart next door without having him know about it.

Pretty much anything and everything. But specifically cheetahs and hawks and bears.
And, too, I'm vegetarian. For the simple reason: I don't believe we've the right to eat animals. Just a personal opinion. I don't enforce, as it were, my view on anyone. People need to make their own choices!
But people always seem to say, I like the taste of meat. (Meat, too, is a euphemism for slaughtered animal.) But I don't believe liking the taste is a legitimate reason to eat slaughtered animals.
Anyway, people, again, have to make up their own minds. However, I think in, say, a hundred years time we'll all be vegetarian. Not us -- ha ha ha! But future generations.
And we will do it for: moral/ethical reasons. And, too, for health reasons. (And morality is very personal. Everyone has their own internal morality. Ya know, I do; and you do. And Dick Cheney does. Yes! Dick Cheney has his own internal morality. As does George Bush. We all do.)

I don't like dogs. If an animal has been domesticated for thousands of years, and hasn't yet figured out how to shit in a box, I don't want it running around inside where I live.

I love my cats, and I've owned 2 for 15+ years.

I find crows interesting. Minneapolis is a huge crow gathering spot during the winter, and they swarm in the neighborhood I live in. Here's some video I found on Youtube (it's actually way more bizarre seeing it live):

Aerial show - YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WFaASjjMup4)

http://www.myfoxtwincities.com/dpp/news/a-murder-of-crows-flocking-to-minneapolis

Neither of these videos do this annual event justice, but it's just what I could find at the moment. I've honestly seen at least a million crows flying around at times.

Nobody knows why they congregate here.

Animals don't judge you. They don't care if you're: transgender, gay, straight, bi, Hispanic, black or lesbian. They just want to be your friend.

Cats kill so much wild life in Australia that they have wiped out some indigenous species with the help of wild pigs and foxes ,all because of European settlers that did not know what they were doing.Rabbits and deer, goats have caused serious problems to this country.Wild dogs that run in huge packs and are very dangerous to wild life and humans if you don't have a gun!Wild dogs in some states in Australia have interbred with dingos so there is no such thing as a pure dingo and that's the problem with introduced species. i know some animal lovers will hate to hear that their little kitty or doggy can cause that much damage but when these animals get loose and breed in the wild they become a lot bigger and
very feral

Ouch! Good luck and take it as easy as you're able to. I tried too much too early and nearly ended up in a wheelchair. For your own sake do what the docs tell you to do. From the injury to being passed as fully recovered took me 14 months, so you'll need to be patient.

Just thought I'd add: I think we should abolish zoos. I, personally, think they're despicable. That's just my opinion.
I mean, it's heartbreaking to see animals in cages. Animals that were, in a lot of cases, abducted, kidnapped and imprisoned for doing nothing wrong.
And the animals, too, become psychotic from being imprisoned in such SMALL spaces.
Animals, like tigers and lions, need a lot of space, wide open space.
Zoos are simply cruel.
