Hi H-A.
I am new to being an escort, so I need some help from all you PRO girls out there.

step 1 - I have professional grade photo's.
But this is the problem, I posted an ad on a popular escort site. I first started my rate at 350 - week later no response and so on to 200. I will not go below 200!!... the problem I run into I got one client in a month.!!!! (wtf?)
the only calls I'm getting are all time wasters. I'm new to being an escort so I dont know if it takes a while to actually get it going or what??

i'm in chicago, and what I have looks good (without being arrogant).

everyone else on the site has a rate of 250, 300. but they have had there ads up for a long time.

I was thinking I would try backpage and the escort site this time. but I dont know.

I am frustrated because I want to make this work. and I will try my hardest to make it work.

what should I do?

does it take a while to actually get clients? or is it right away??

is 200 good? how do I set a correct price?

and when on backpage, how do you tell the client your rate if backpage does not allow you to?

Well I don't know anything about becoming a successful prostitute, but common sense would suggest that you probably need to pursue more than one avenue of publicity (ie more than just one website). And that it could well take some time to build up a repeating client base. Also, you have to spend money to make money - so maybe you'll have to travel outside of chicago on occassion...

I use Backpage exclusively. I charge 200. I get anywhere from 2 to 5 clients a month (not including a couple of long time regulars.) Simply tell your potential clients about your price in an email once they've contacted you. I have a pre-typed form letter I've been using for years that I just copy and paste once someone emails me. Any questions they have after that are usually handled in further emails or over the phone/text. The customer to flake ratio is about 10 to 1. It's perfectly normal to get tons of emails and phone calls that don't follow through.

I make around 1400 a month escorting. I make another 1000 off of my website. That's my normal month to month income as a person in the adult entertainment industry. After rent and bills I wind up with about 800 to my name in savings and pocket money. Wealthy? Absolutely not. Here's the trade off... TIME. The argument that taxes stabilize society is a good one, but that doesn't mean we're not paying far too much for too little.

Here is some advice for you from a guy who has seen escorts. #1 and MOST important: you need to relay in your ads that you are for real. some way, some how, prove to us you aren't some drag queen posting up porn pictures to bait and switch your customers. We need to know that the risk we are taking is worth it. One way is to post real pics, with some sort of proof in it, like write your name on your arm or something in one of the pics you post in your ad.
#2: like the job. don't do it because you need to make money. you won't last past 2 customers if you provide lousy service. with all the availability of review boards, and with plenty of competition, you will get swallowed up by the rest of the girls out there.
#3: be competitive with your prices. I browse Eros now and again, and I can't believe some girls are laying out this bullshit about "$250, nice, $400 very nice, $500 VIP" etc etc. That is bullshit and tells us that you are just playing games. since you are new, start off at $180 for an hour, $120 a half and build up a name for yourself. As you get into it, and maybe even start to garner a good reputation, simple economics will dictate that you deserve a higher rate. it will come in time. be patient.
#4: be prepared for tire kickers/have a thick skin. you will get plenty of calls and no shows because guys are either curious and ballsy enough to call, but not to show, or people who are too quirky and are apt to change their mind on a whim. Don't take shit personally. hold your head up high, feel good about yourself no matter what.
#5: have an end goal. Have a reason for doing this, like, I want to move out of this city and go to _________ so I can start doing _________ and living my life. Don't just suck dick because you can't find your way someway else.

It's generally been the same in my 5 years of steady work... you'll find it's 'seasonal'... Work picks up when business travelers are out and about. You'll also pick up regulars who see you several times a month and are willing to help you out if you're in a jam. I'd have more customers if I started my HRT years sooner, (Tits really do count.) But a fully functional cock helps retain clients as well so this job has been pretty fair to me over all.

Interesting thread. I always figured 100 to 150 was about right, depending on the sex act and the state of the economy in your local market, but the girls usually ask for more. As an occassional client, I don't like haggling the price, and I'm not a time-waster, so I end up not calling new ads very much but sticking to a few regulars whose initial offer was reasonable, plus they enjoy their work and like me somewhat and even go to a dinner or lunch with me sometimes in their spare time. Personally I find that such a connection is so rare that it's worth sticking with the girl if she's nice to me. Sort of a girlfriend / sugar-daddy thing. But of course $$ is expected and in some cases very much needed.
