I had to read frankenstein, and i read dracula by choice. They are both really good. I've found i like romantic period novels. Both books were suprisingly deep.

yeah, russtafa, that movie was amazing.
the 70's King Kong with Jeff Bridges & Meryl Streep is pretty good
The Thing (1982) - with Kurt Russell, very underrated thiller/horror/suspense movie. John Carpenter did good stuff. Cronenberg, too. Remember Scanners?
I read a lot of Stephen King as a kid

Good Monster flicks
Near dark - Very different take on vampires
Godzilla (original version)
Gamera - gotta love a giant flying spinning turtle
The Hidden - surprisingly good Alien comes to earth film from 87 with Kyle McLachlan and Micheal Nouri
The Host - Korean monster film
Them - great old school monster film
Dog Soldiers - nice take on werewolves
The Descent - hard to describe without spoiling it
Wolfen - totally different take on werewolves
Lifeforce - vampires are aliens
Black Sheep - beware those little fuzzy white bleeting things. Masde by the special effects guys from LOTR who originally started it as a joke inserting killer sheep in daily rushes of Fellowship of the Ring as a joke.

Anything by H.P. Lovecraft.
And I also really appreciate John Steakley's Vampire$ (although the movie version made me want to throttle someone... entirely put me off seeing movies anymore unless they have stellar critical ratings after that).
Aliens, still my all time fav...
