he wasn't going to shot him he was just thinking about it. What guy hasn't thought about killing or beating the shit out of their best friend. Plus they are in a highly stressful situation not everybody reacts well to dead things trying to eat them. I hope they eat him too but just because I don't like his acting. His character is necessary to balance out the leads role since Micheal Rooker died and the guy playing his brother just isn't quite racist enough.

If you read the comics you know that the farmhouse is very important for a number of reasons.

I love what they are doing. Just the right amount of horror and drama.

Plus it is fun watching the characters break down.

One thing people need to understand is that this is the long-term view, not a short-term version found in most zombie movies. We get to see them after society has broken down for some time. Food, fuel, and ammo have become scarce. People are beginning to break down mentally and physically.

Finally saw this week's episode. After a slow and tedious start this season is really picking up the last two episodes.

The only character I want to survive, the redneck, proves once again why he is not yet zombie chow by getting truly backwoods on a couple of walkers and one unlucky squirrel. Then survives a sniper shot to the head.

Yea the latest episode did drag a bit. The pharmacy attack was badly telegraphed - and now we'll get real quiet and film a boring activity, what could go wrong? I like the near-decapitation with a shelf though, nice improv, Jackie Chan.

And the attack in the subdivision, were all the zombies hiding when they pulled up? Were they taking a zombie siesta? Or was it a block party?

Anyway this episode really made clear one thing about post-apocalyptic romance: nothing fires up the ladies like near death experiences with zombies. Forget game, a flashy car, and a six-pack, killing zombies is the new Spanish Fly.

Oh and Rick and Rick's bitch wife have intense sweaty face competitions, which Rick wins so his bitch wife steals his acid and eats it all, only to throw it up later. I don't know, I may have missed some of that. I hate those two.

Just saw S02E07 a few minutes ago. What a disaster - it's like Shane shit all over Paradise. I love all the little details in the final scene, like Glen looking at Maggie for approval before he charges in. She nods her head and it's go time for Glen!

I've never read the comic books ("graphic novels" - why does better quality paper make them graphic novels and not comic books?), but the TV series is doing a great job of showcasing everyone's humanity in the face of the zombie apocalypse.

Hey Doc, shouldn't you be poring over medical texts and searching for any hint of what might cure your rotting barn-dwelling family members? No? Just gonna reread Psalms, again? Yeah, that's probably best.

So the barn payoff was pretty fun. First Shane blows holes (get it?) in Old Farmer's "they're just sick" theory and then the whole local zombie community is shredded by a firing line, including Sophia.

What's really amazing about this episode is it calls into doubt what was the almost certainly foolproof Hillbilly Flower Test. Who could have known that having a redneck interpret swamp flowers would not perfectly tell you whether your daughter was alive or not? I hope the group takes this into account the next time the Redneck makes a "petal prediction."

This season felt like it really dragged on and on. I mean a lot of crazy shit went down but there was way too much downtime between the craziness. Also, way too much bromance for my taste. As for the old man reading his bible...I don't think he really believed he could cure them...but they were still people to him - I believe his wife and another daughter were included in the Zombie Group...and so he believed it was more humane to continue treating them as people.

...His point was clearly made when it became shooting fish in a barrel (some of the folks clearly enjoyed doing it-even though the old man's friends and relatives were in the group)...up until the little girl (Sophia), who they all were very attached to, came strolling out of the barn...and no one could bring themselves to shoot her until Rick HAD to. She put a "human" face on the Zombies...much as the veterinarian's friends and family did to him.

...funny though,...somehow I don't think Sophia would have garnered as much sympathy if she came out dragging her body with her entrails falling out...and ferally snapping at the living the way most of the other walking dead seem to ...lol.

I felt the same way about there could be no way they didn't know she was in there, but on the talking dead the creator answered doubts and explained that the reason Herschel and his family did not know because when Sophia went missing Otis must have captured her then the next day Carl was shot and from then until Otis was killed and shanes return nobody around Otis said anything about a missing girl and basically Shane killed Otis before any one mentioned a little girl being missing. I was surprised the creator said that much instead of making us wait till feburary to really find out, plus you gotta remember so far it's been what 4 or 5 days now, first day on road/Sophia goes missing second day Carl gets shot third day Shane Otis go to the high school fourth day Carl get the equipment he needs, and then maybe another day or two and then there was the barn massacre

Good point about Sophia. I liked how they really made it a point of how the walkers are indeed somebody's family or friend. Not one of them had it in them to put the girl down, yet they were so anxious to kill the Doc's fam and friends.

I'd rate the season with "B". If it weren't for the season finale it would have been a "C", "C-" for sure. Can't wait for Season 2.5

One of the things I enjoyed about this season was the dichotomy. Hershel saving Carl's life and not being able to kill his family members but having no real idea what it is like in the outside world.

They are really in a whole different world on the farm. They feel somewhat safe but you can see Shane go off the deep end. Dale is manning up. Rick is idealistic.

They skipped something in the comic that I think makes more sense now coming in 2.5 which will be cool.

I loved that scene where they were trying to escape from the zombies in the high school gym, when they were on the bleachers and the zombies were clawing at them. Bleachers and a gym are such a mundane image, but adding the zombies in there just makes it a terrifying scene, reminded me a lot of the use of the mall in the original Dawn of the Dead. This series is the closest thing to Romero in a zombie project not involving Romero that I've ever seen.

It's hard to choose between Night and Dawn. I pick Night because of the respect I have for the difficulty of making the film and distributing it. Took balls and determination to make that. Cutting a few corners too.

The Tom Savini remake of Night of the Living Dead was good too. He made it for George because of George getting screwed over with some things with the original Night of the Living Dead.
I've got the 4 disk DVD Ultimate edition on Dawn and the Blu-Ray. Same with Day of the Dead. Day was just so damn gory and watching it as a kid scared the shit out of me. To this day, I still can't sit and watch it by myself because of the gore.
I like Land of the Dead. It didn't have much of a plot, but it was nice to see he had a studio backing. Diary to me was just terrible and Survival was decent. I enjoy watching that. I do like how Diary and Survival intertwined.
The day remake was terrible and then they made a sequel to that, that was just as bad.

This season is so much better than last season. I really didn't believe they would kill Lori but apparently they grew some balls between seasons. Kudos.

As I re-watched the 2nd season before this one, I was reminded how goddamn stupid the names of these characters are. They're all so unremarkable and average that I can never remember who anyone is talking about: Rick, Shane, Glenn, Dale and Carl? Who would name a child Carl? With an ensemble cast, distinctive names are helpful. Of course, naming the only black guy "T-Dogg" goes a little overboard.

Stephen King's "The Mist" was on TV today and I realized that the Walking Dead is a serialization of that movie. Just replace "the mist" with "the zombies" and you're good to go.

here is my take on the walking dead so far...

1. i am a bit perturbed at their inability to keep a consistent pace. season 1 was action filled and frenetic. season 2 was slow and boring. so far, season 3 has spurts of both. i'm bored to death with woodbury already and the governor. he hasn't done anything like his role in the comics (or at least not even as evil). the prison stuff is ok i guess.

2. as a fan of the comic books, i am unhappy with the changes made. if you were going to kill lori off so early, do it...but do it the way it happens in the comics...that would have been gruesome and awesome all at the same time.

3. t-dogg...whatever. he is a made up character and never fully realized. you know he was going to die once the other black prisoner looked like he wasn't going to get killed. only one token black dude in the main group can be allowed, even though they are in the south.

4. i want someone to kill andrea already. the character is an annoying cunt. the only thing i was looking forward to was andrea and michonne making out because it seemed as if that's the way the tv series was going to go with it...but it didn't happen as of tonight's episode.

well, most good shows that have a large overarching theme as this one does never confronts the viewer with character development and backstory in the first few episodes of the first season....but what bored me was that the whole 2nd season belabored the process.

also, i am not beholden to the comic so much that changes aren't welcomed...i just wish the kept things like Lori's death (the actual act...not the things leading up to it) the same because that's one impressive way to kill her and the kid. next, things like michonne's rape can't fit in the TV series...they have already established her as too much of a bad ass to be taken by the governor. also, with michonne, she hasn't showed that she is hearing voices yet so that kindred spirit she has with rick may or may not make it in.

that said, the changes they have made make me think that rick will end up with both hands. merle already lost a hand in the tv series so that he isn't in the comic but in the tv series means to me that if the producers allow the governor to cut off his hand, they will be just like geroge lucas....obsessed with limb removal.

finally, back to Theo...WTF? to me, it would have been nice to keep him around until the group encounters the governor and merle. to explore the idea of merle seeking vengeance for his lost limb...the conflict between daryl and merle over daryl's acceptance of t-dog, etc.

realistically, AMC will never air this show for as many seasons as could be possible based on the comics so abbreviating roles and combining elements of various issues into episodes has to be done...i just question whether or not they are going to paint themselves into a corner and have to deviate completely from the comic with writing new material.

i know there are lots of black people in georgia. so in terms of not seeing black walkers, that's a problem with production. as far as not having black people in the group, that is expected. they made up t-dog because they didn't want to use the black characters from the comics so maybe i just got used to it pretty quickly.

I am quite curious as to what series in your mind actually keeps a consistent pace. Game of Thrones, Boardwalk Empire, Falling Skies, Fringe, Homeland. uhm yes all the recent big hitters rev through the gears - no real consistency imo. although now I bhave typed homeland I am not to sure.. hmmmm

Thinking about it The Arrow has been consistent i suppose, consistently cheesey , very formulaic ( I actually love it btw ) :D

Currently enjoying the Blood and Chrome pilot, being released slowly on youttube in chunks. It already makes references to Caprica which paid for a very slow start (sadly). I was enjoying it anyway - as with recent trends it was axed and yes after being axed the 2nd half of the series was excellent and it makes you a bit gutted with it not being completed. Especially when the next saga makes references to what would of been. Blood and Chrome looks excellent anyway, well all 19 minutes of it or whatever is out there atm. :)

i found the last episode to be equally necessary and unnecessary. allow me to explain.

necessary
1) they are going to "terminus" and that could mean many things (atlanta, sanctuary with the hunters, etc) so the kids needed to go. we can speculate what terminus means but it can't be good. they will end the season on the fight for survival there, i.e. a cliffhanger...they will not end the season with everyone finding a real sanctuary.

2) lizzy was an annoying twat. there was no doubt in my mind that she was the one feeding the rats to the walkers through the fence. she never really got that they were dead and echoed other sentiments that the walkers could be saved, but she did it with an innocence and naivety of a child unlike hersel/otis and the governor that meant that she would never really understand the repercussions of death. plus, how she was screaming at carol when carol killed her friend represented that lizzy valued the dead or at least the non-verbal that she could fantasize about more than the living. that is the ignorance of innocence as she wasn't able to yet appreciate life.

3) she killed her sister and tried to kill judith so she was clearly mental.

unnecessary
this goes to the broader scope of the show. i absolutely HATE this half of the season where the major characters are splintered and only being shown for 1 show at a time...i am not enjoying the forced uncertainty created by both temporal and spatial separation of the main characters.


so taken together, because of how the story is being told, i agree that carol had to kill lizzy to advance her plot line and ensure that she, tyrese and most of all judith, are safe moving forward. carol has become the unfettered survivalist. but because i really don't care about the characters mika and lizzy, i really didn't need to waste an hour of my life on closing their story arc. they could have been just bitten and died in the first 30 seconds of the episode and then get back to other story lines that are more interesting.

a few other notes...
1) i hate this implementation of tyrese...he should not be such a buffoon.
2) rosita (Christian Serratos) is fucking cute
3) i really wish they didn't introduce eugene. his character annoys me as it points out how easy it is to prey on hope AND how a little bit of knowledge is more dangerous than ignorance.

Good writing, directing and acting makes you care about the characters...I like Bob...he got a fucked up deal - he had trouble fitting in as an alcoholic...then when they all got separated, he was upbeat and happy just cause he got to travel with pretty girls...and he gave Sasha hope...and finally, finally -he gets her (and she's got some seriously nice legs...she was on one of the "talking dead" shows...sitting wearing a mini skirt or hot pants - with her legs oiled up...hot)...

With that said, it does seem like everytime they add a black character, they kill one off. I guess on the bright side, African Americans are very well represented on the show in general. Aaron is a scout from the Alexandria Safe-Zone. He is the gay character that has been rumored. He and his boyfriend Eric are scouts, and they follow groups of survivors. If they look decent he approaches them, and makes first contact.

now...i am very unhappy with how fast things are falling apart in Alexandria. i realize the show cannot develop at the same speed of the comic, but the pace is just too quick at this point. plus...where are the fucking wolves already????

gabriel can't die until the saviors (wolves) come on scene. i can't see how they kill off the priest until they come. to do it wastes his character right now. we have seen 3 instances of the wolves referenced so they are coming. how far can they be...they were already in richmond and tore apart noah's family's community. alexandria isn't far at all.

to me, the next of the group to go will likely be abraham (if tara is already dead...see below.) i think that he is standing as a leader of the construction group means that his time is coming.

back to tara...the teaser for next week has rick and deanna standing over 4 graves. if we assume that the graves represent who was lost on the microinverter run....that's noah, aiden, tara and....deanna's son's friend that glen beat up. i bet eugene shoots him while in the van or tara goes zombie and bites him...or something like that.

Rick lost it, should have kept his cool. Yes, the town is screwed up, but the team should have had a meeting or something first to determine the best course of action moving forward after what happened at the job site, the warehouse, and discovery of the wife beater. It just goes to show that you can’t always predict human behavior.

He is dead, Jim. There is no way that he could of fit under the dumpster. The dumpster is too low to the ground. As well, those zombies aren't going to move. The zombies have nowhere to go. Unless they pull a deus ex machina, he is dead for the moment.

Truly shocked Glen has gone but as much as I was impressed with how it portrayed it, I can't be doing with how the episodes are so drawn out now. I don't think Slave was trying to troll.... just offering an alternative for folks who might have lost interest in Walking Dead and looking for other "zombie" alternatives. Honestly - I have kept watching, but I feel like this season has been their worst one. Things are being dragged out quite a bit, and the storylines are all over the place. (Just one person's opinion.. no need to attack lol)

I have friends who lost interest in season 7 saying it was the worst season ever. Others that haven't been into season 8. Personally I have enjoyed both. I LOVE Negan. Barring a major departure from the storyline in the comics Negan will be with us for a very long time to come. I'm very happy about that.

I am not sensitive, I just hate it when people see the name of a thread. They have no interest in the topic of the thread. Then they click the thread and post to say they have no interest. Waste of bandwidth.

It is like someone seeing a thread on some fetish they have no interest in and waste everyone's time by posting they have no interest. What is the point? You're not contributing to the topic, just saying you are not interested. Why waste your time? I know when I see a thread title that is something that I have no interest in, I will move on to the next one.

That is not offering an opinion, it is merely stating you're not interested.

If you come into the thread and tell us you're not interested and why you're not interested, then you would be offering an opinion as to what is wrong with the show. "I lost interest" is just a silly post.

I love the show. It keeps me entertained. I have become invested in some of the characters and want to know what happens to them. The departure between the comics (which I also love) and the TV series keeps it fresh and unpredictable for me.

I get that you posted about Z Nation and that you prefer it. Maybe Z Nation should have it's own thread.

I have not checked out Z Nation as one zombie genre TV show is enough for me. Maybe someday I will check it out. Right now, I tend to limit the amount of time I sit in front of the boob tube so I have to pick and choose the shows I watch carefully.

i really liked Negan, when he arrived. i liked his swagger, the way he talks, taughts and bullies. But the writers killed his character. Made him boring and just a tease. He's not menacing anymore. he's become an annoyance. i can 't take him or his barb wire bat 'Lucille' serious. And maybe the griping fans who bitched about all the gory violence the last 2 years ruined him too. i haven't been crazy about the writings of the Walking Dead the last 2 years.
